FineReport connects cube database. First, connect cube database with FineReport through data connection, and then create new cube database XMLA database on the basis of data connection for template design.
2. XMLA Data Connection
2.1 described
Multidimensional Database (MDD), as the name implies, refers to storing data in multiple dimensions, simply put, storing data in an n-dimensional array, rather than in the form of records like relational databases. Therefore, it has a large number of sparse matrices, and people can observe the data through multidimensional views. Multidimensional database adds a time dimension. Compared with relational database, its advantage lies in improving data processing speed, reaction time and query efficiency.
2.2 operation steps
FineReport provides XMLA data connection method to connect with multidimensional database and establish bridge. Through this bridge, FineReport can easily obtain data from multidimensional database and convert it into two-dimensional table for template making and data analysis.
2.2.1 Install cube plug-ins or import related jar packages
How to install designer plug-ins Refer to: Plug-in installation management
How to install plug-ins on server Refer to: Install plug-ins on server
Click Restart Designer, and the designer will automatically restart later. After the restart, the plug-in will be enabled successfully, and the XMLA data connection will appear in the data connection, as shown in the following figure.
Note: Only versions prior to 8.0 need to import the following jar package
2.2.2 Creating a new data connection
Open the Designer, click Server> Define Data Connection, enter the Define Data Connection dialog box, click + button to add an XMLA data connection, as shown below:
2.2.3 Configuration of data connection parameters
FineReport multidimensional database XMLA data connection supports the mainstream database types in the market, such as SQL Server Analysis Services, Oracle Essbase, SAP HANA and SAP BW. Below we explain the connection methods of various types of multidimensional databases one by one.
(1)SQLServer Analysis Services
SQL Server Analysis Services, or SSAS, designs, creates, and manages multidimensional structures containing detailed information and aggregated data from multiple data sources, such as relational databases, within a single unified logical model with built-in computing support.
Select SQL Server Analysis Services as the database type on the XMLA data connection parameter configuration interface. Enter the site address, user name and password of the database in the URL, and then click the drop-down option behind the database label. FineReport will automatically load and display all multidimensional databases under the site in the drop-down list. Select the database to be connected, as shown in the following figure:
Note: The XMLA URL above links to sites published directly through IIS.
Clicking on the test connection means the connection is successful.
(2)Oracle Essbase
Database Type Select Oracle Essbase, enter the address, user name and password of the site where the database is located at the URL, and click the drop-down option behind the database label. FineReport will automatically load and display all multidimensional databases under the site in the drop-down list. Select the database to be connected, as shown in the following figure:
Clicking on the test connection means the connection is successful.
Note: For simple general queries, filtering on the selected dimension does not support "contains" or "does not contain" or "starts with"; filtering on non-selected dimensions only supports "equals"
Another: involving complex filtering forms can use custom MDX queries
(3)SAP HANA
Select SAP HANA for database type, enter the address, username and password of the site where the database is located in the URL, and then click the drop-down option behind the database label. FineReport will automatically load all multidimensional databases under the site into the drop-down list, and select the database to be connected, as shown in the following figure:
Clicking on the test connection means the connection is successful.
Detailed Settings View: SAP HANA Connectivity
(4)SAP BW
Select SAP BW for database type, enter the address, username and password of the site where the database is located in URL, and then click the drop-down option behind the database label. FineReport will automatically load all multidimensional databases under the site into the drop-down list, and select the database to be connected, as shown below:
Clicking on the test connection means the connection is successful.
Detailed Settings View: SAP BW Connection
Once the XMLA data connection is established, you can add the cube XMLA dataset.
3. XMLA dataset
After creating a new XMLA data connection, click the Add button in the Template Dataset panel to create a new multidimensional database, as shown below:
Enter the XMLA database configuration interface. The XMLA database query retrieval method includes simple general query and custom MDX query, as shown in the following figure:
