Mozilla has begun testing a new feature of the Firefox browser that allows users to continue watching videos in other windows or desktops. Officially called the picture-in-picture mode, the new feature has been tested in the Firefox Nightly version to improve it before it is released to the public.

Currently, Firefox browsers can't do this because the existing picture-in-picture feature only launches a pop-up window that runs on top of other windows, and that's almost all of it. It works fine on YouTube, and you can call this option by right-clicking to play the video. The current picture-in-picture feature doesn't even have the option to turn off picture-in-picture video, so you must right-click it again to turn off the picture-in-picture feature.

­like Google Chrome, Vivaldi also provides picture-in-picture mode, which you can turn on by right-clicking on the YouTube video. The pop-up window displays the pause button and the close button when the mouse hovers. When the video is played in picture-in-picture mode, the YouTube main tab displays the message "this video is playing in picture-in-picture mode". It remains to be seen when the picture-in-picture feature will be available to Firefox browser users, but it is clear that Mozilla still needs to do a lot of improvement.
