Therefore, when installing SQL Server2008R2, you need to consider the hardware and software conditions for running, the purchased version and the scope of application functions. Let's take SQL Server2008R2 Enterprise x64 bit as an example.

Before installing SQL Server, first meet the minimum software and hardware requirements of the system (processor, memory, hard disk space, operating system and patches).

Security considerations when installing SQL Server

■ enhances physical security

■ uses firewalls

■ quarantine services, such as, do not install SQL Server on domain controllers.

■ configures a secure file system.

■ disables unnecessary protocols, including NetBIOS and server message blocks, to eliminate the threat of user enumerations.

The installation process is as follows:

Run setup.exe in the installation directory and open the SQL Server 2008R2 installer. After the program loads and installs the components, the installation occurs

Then enter the product key, accept the license terms, and click the install button.

The status is passed or warning, indicating that the installation can continue:

Check "SQL Server feature installation"

In the feature selection interface, select the feature to be installed according to the actual requirements, and click the feature name to view a description of the feature

In the installation rules interface, if there are warning or failure options that affect the installation process, review the workaround. And then, "next."

In the instance configuration interface, you can select the default instance or named instance radio button. The default instance name is MSSQLSERVER, which does not require the client to specify an instance name to establish a connection. I choose default instance

On a computer, you can follow multiple SQL Server, each of which can be understood as an instance. Instances are divided into "default" and "named", and the default instance is the same as the computer name.

In disk Space requirements, view a summary of disk usage.

In the Server configuration interface, specify the account you want to use for the SQL Server service, and click use the same account for all SQL Server services

In the pop-up dialog box, select the built-in system account

In the account Settings tab of the Database engine configuration interface, select the authentication mode, which includes Windows authentication mode and mixed mode. In this example, after I select the mixed mode (SQL Server authentication and Windows authentication) radio button, I enter the password for the SQL Server system administrator account and the add current user button

■ Windows authentication mode: when a user connects through a Microsoft Windows user account, SQL Server uses information from the Windows operating system to verify the username and password. This is the default authentication and is more secure than mixed mode. Windows authentication mode uses Kerberos security protocol, provides mandatory password policy through complexity verification of strong passwords, provides account locking support, and supports password expiration.

■ mixed mode (SQL Server authentication and Windows authentication): allows users to connect using SQL Server authentication and Windows authentication. Users who connect through Windows users can use trusted connections that are authenticated by Windows.

To choose mixed mode authentication, you should set a strong password for all SQL login accounts, especially the system administrator sa.

In the Analysis Services configuration interface:

In the Reporting Services configuration interface, select install Native Mode default configuration

In the error reporting interface, leave the default.

In the installation configuration rules interface, if there is no problem, click next

In the prepare for installation interface, click install to begin the installation
