R80 is the latest secure operating system version of checkpoint. The current version R80.20 M1 has been released for some time. Start the initialization configuration wizard:

Choose to install R80

Configure interface IP addresses and gateways

Configure hostname, domain name, DNS, etc.

Set time zone information

Select installation type

Here I choose to install the management side, namely SMS (Security Management Server)

Configure the administrator account: here you can use the system administrator account (admin) or customize the new administrator account. We can customize the administrator account directly.

Set restrictions on client access to the graphical interface: I am a virtual environment, directly according to the default configuration, in the actual situation is not recommended.

Finally, there is a summary of information. After confirming that there is no problem, click finish to begin the formal installation.

Select yes to start the installation

Because only the management server is installed, as long as your computer has good performance, the installation process is very fast.

Installation completed

Install smartconsole: after double-clicking the downloaded client

Select the installation path:

Show installation progress: there is no option for previous versions to choose to install feature components.

After the installation is complete, the interface of smartdashboard is as follows:

When logging in with the system management account for the first time, the following error is prompted:

Download the ISO file again, then install it, and the problem is resolved. (this is very strange, generally does not have this kind of problem, may be the RP problem, hh.. -_-|)

As you can see in the screenshot, mine is 4G memory, swap partition 8G, in which the real memory uses 3G (previously I only allocated 1G memory on the virtual machine, because considering that the linux system will not take up too much memory space), virtual memory, that is, swap partition uses almost 3G.

Take a look at the system resource usage of my R77.30 management server:

As can be seen from the comparison of the above figure, it is obvious that the memory usage of the two versions is no longer the same level. (this only represents personal views, unofficial)
