This article gives you a detailed description of the VMware virtual machine NAT configuration process for your reference, the details are as follows

NAT is the full name of Network Address Translation network address translation, as the name implies, the focus of the configuration is also address translation.

Step 1. Configure LAN segments and gateways

Open the visual network editor of vmware and set it to the following image style:

Illustration description

1) use nat to configure VMnet8. This virtual network card is connected to the network by dedicated nat, regardless of other network cards.

2) the 102fields in 2 can be selected arbitrarily. This is the selected subnet segment. Remember, the host, virtual machine and virtual router are all ip in the 102subnet.

3) fill in the subnet mask such as 3

Then click NAT settings to set up the gateway. This gateway setting means that the virtual machine establishes a virtual gateway on the host to facilitate the virtual machine to route to the public network, which distinguishes the hostonly mode, as shown in the figure.

Gateway ip fill in 192.168.102.2, because the subnet segment selected 102, so here is also, in addition, the gateway ip is 2, remember! Others do not need to set ok save exit.

Step 2. Set the host ip

Find the VMnet8 Nic on the host side, which belongs to the host. The one in 1 is actually the ip of the gateway. Don't get confused.

Configure VMnet8 as shown in figure, set ip to 912.168.102.1, and mask

Step 3. Configure virtual machine ip, gateway, proxy, etc.

Like hostonly mode, ip is set to 192.168.102.3, gateway and DNS are both set to 192.168.102.2, with a mask, if the public network to be connected has an agent, you need to specify a proxy, and if there is no proxy, do not enter it. As shown in the figure:

In addition, make sure that the configuration of the virtual machine is NAT:

Ok, you can surf the Internet when finished, and restart the virtual machine if necessary!

Note:

As a digression, if you can't access the Internet, you can try the shared configuration of a network card, as shown in the figure.

What is the purpose of this? explain that this local connection is your real physical network card. For example, for external network, your ip is 10.6.100.100 (while the host ip in the virtual machine nat gateway is 192.168.102.1). If you check to allow other networks to share this link, you can choose other virtual network cards to use this real physical network card. If it is not checked, it means that how to configure the virtual network card can not access the Internet? The reason is like this, but after experiments, I share the choice is VMnet1 (can also choose VMnet8), rather than vmnet8, according to reason can not use nat to surf the Internet, but the experiment can access the Internet, so sometimes try more, can surf the Internet on the line.

Finally, take a look at the whole picture to see more clearly how VM works:
