What is the current situation of artificial intelligence which has been very popular in recent years? Recent surveys cover the following aspects: the popularity of artificial intelligence, some measurable impacts, the human-related challenges faced by enterprises in the application of artificial intelligence, and the "lifeline of artificial intelligence"-many questions related to data: what is the role of data in the development of enterprises? How do enterprises protect data privacy and related policies? In addition, the public is still not sure whether artificial intelligence is good or bad for human beings. The answer to these questions may be the key to the continuous popularization of artificial intelligence as a business tool.

01 current and future artificial intelligence applications: steady growth

92 per cent of executives are increasing their investment in big data and artificial intelligence, while 62 per cent have seen measurable results (NewVantage).

36% of executives believe that artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) play an important role in the enterprise's digital strategy, while 45% believe that AI / ML is the most important technology and can play an important role in the organization's digital strategy (EIU) in three years' time.

Today, 28% of retailers are deploying artificial intelligence, up from 17% in 2017 and 4% in 2016 (Capgemini).

73% of large US enterprise cyber security analysts have implemented security products that include at least some aspects of artificial intelligence, but 25% do not plan to implement additional artificial intelligence security solutions (Osterman) in the future.

22% of business managers use advanced analytical techniques and artificial intelligence to predict the risk of network intrusion (SMR).

86 per cent of IT executives are exploring solutions for cyber security using machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) (Radware).

Only 7 per cent of business managers apply machine learning and artificial intelligence (SMR) in decision-making or production workflows.

02 some signs and people's expectations for artificial intelligence

Ninety-eight per cent of retailers using artificial intelligence expect the number of customer complaints to fall by 15 per cent, while 99 per cent expect artificial intelligence to increase sales (Capgemini) by 15 per cent.

Seventy-one per cent of retailers said artificial intelligence was creating jobs, with 68 per cent of the jobs at an advanced level; 75 per cent said that so far, artificial intelligence had not replaced any work in their organisations (Capgemini).

Forty-eight percent of IT executives cited faster response time and better security as the main drivers to explore machine learning-based cyber security solutions (Radware).

The challenges faced in 03AI applications are more about people than technology.

Seventy-seven per cent of executives said big data and the "business adoption" of artificial intelligence projects continued to pose a challenge to their companies. Executives cited a variety of factors (organizational consistency, agility, resistance), of which 95 per cent were cultural challenges (people and processes) and only 5 per cent were technology-related (NewVantage).

Seventy-six per cent of business managers said they had increased access to data they found useful, while only 43 per cent thought they often had the right data (SMR) to make decisions.

Network security products based on artificial intelligence: 54% deliver inaccurate results, 42% are difficult to use, and 71% are more expensive than traditional ones (Osterman).

For successful artificial intelligence applications, people's attitude towards data is crucial.

Only 21 per cent of business managers reported formal methods of data quality (regularly monitoring, managing and improving data quality as part of formal data management), while 42 per cent reported informal methods (those who produce or use data actively revise data (SMR) for accuracy, consistency, timeliness and completeness).

Only 31 per cent of executives said their organisations were data-driven, down from 37.1 per cent in 2017 and 32.4 per cent in 2018 (NewVantage).

Only 17% of business leaders always include data and analysis in the decision-making process, and 16% of business managers regularly evaluate employees' data literacy (SMR).

Data privacy involves communicating with the people from whom you collect the data

74% of Facebook users said they did not know the list of interests of the platform, 59% said that their list was very (13%) or to some extent (46%) accurately reflected their interests, and 27% of users said the list was not very (22%) or could not accurately represent them (5%). 51% of users said they were not very satisfied with Facebook creating this list of their interests and characteristics (Pew).

L 41 per cent of business managers said they would inform customers how to collect, use and share their information and exercise internal control over the way employees use their data; 20 per cent informed customers how they collected, used and shared their information, but had no internal control; 25 per cent had implemented data privacy measures but had not yet communicated externally; 14 per cent said it was not their concern (SMR).

06 invest in data security before investing in artificial intelligence

The initial cost of cyber attacks in 2018 increased by 52 per cent compared with 2017 (Radware) and commercial threats increased by 79 per cent (Malwarebytes).

Forty-four per cent of business managers have a response plan in the event of a data breach, 47 per cent track all data stores, 43 per cent keep an updated list of sensitive data types, and 44 per cent train all employees related to IT security risks and practices (SMR).

07 public attitude and understanding of artificial intelligence may affect the popularization of artificial intelligence

41% of Americans support or strongly support the development of artificial intelligence to some extent, while 22% strongly oppose it (Oxford).

82% of Americans believe that robots and artificial intelligence should be carefully managed (Oxford).

Thirty-one per cent of Americans support the development of high-level machine intelligence (for example, machines can perform almost all tasks related to the current economy, better than middle-level people), while 27 per cent object (Oxford).

L 63% of experts hope that most people will be better off in 2030 (artificial intelligence and related technological systems will enhance human capabilities and empower them), while 37% predict that people's lives will not get better (for example, artificial intelligence will reduce human autonomy and initiative) (Pew).
