Installation steps:

After preparing the environment, we need to create a new virtual machine in VMware. Be careful to choose the installation source and install the operating system later. Other settings can be set by default or recommended.

Click Virtual Machine Settings after the new virtual machine is created, and fill in the path of the downloaded image in cd as shown in the figure. At the same time, check all the options in the usb controller, and then select USB3.0.

Click OK to save the configuration and insert the pre-prepared flash drive. Then click to start the virtual machine. A prompt for an optional mobile device will pop up. If not, please look at the next step first.

If there is no prompt for a mobile device, the usb service for VMware is generally not started. Press and hold the win+r input command service.msc to open the service manager, find VMware USB Arbitrary and then right-click to start, and right-click to select properties to change the startup mode to start.

Close VMware after starting the service, then turn it back on, repeat the previous step, and you should see the prompt.

If you have not found your own USB disk, after starting the virtual machine, link the USB disk to the virtual machine as shown below. The logo of the U disk appears in the lower right corner to indicate that the connection is successful.

After the above operations, the USB disk can be connected to the virtual machine, and then we select the language to install, click try ubuntu, and then enter a temporary system.

Click install ubuntu in the upper left corner of the desktop and you will enter the installer.

After selecting the language, click continue, and then a prompt window will appear saying that you have multiple devices connected to your computer. Note the key NO here.

Click continue after clicking NO, then select the last something else and continue with continue.

Select dev/sdb and click new partition table to create a new partition table, and then you will be prompted and confirmed.

Then a primary partition of the U disk is divided into etx4, the capacity is set to 15000MB, and a swap partition in the format swap uses the remaining space of the U disk.

Double-click dev/sdb/ntfs and then use as etx4, check format format, and then set mount point to /

Then the bottom device for boot loader must be selected as a flash drive.

The final choice should look like this.

After you finish all this, you will continue all the way. Just wait.

After the installation is completed, you will be prompted to restart. At this time, just unplug the USB drive. Then you can use the ubuntu system on any computer.

The specific method is to choose boot manager or enter bios when booting, different computer methods are different, please own Baidu.

Then select the representation of the U disk in the USB option, and after selecting enter, you can boot the system.

If you can't find your flash drive option in boot manager, it may be due to the following reasons:

The usb boot option is not turned on in the 1.bios settings. Find the appropriate option to set usb boot to enable.

2.bios boot settings only support uefi, you can turn on legacy boot mode, and then restart the computer and then enter the boot manager should be able to see the flash drive.
