OPPO demonstrated its original optical zoom concept on smartphones for the first time in 2017 at MWC Barcelona. After two years of unconditional iteration and transformation, the company once again demonstrated its 10x lossless zoom technology at this year's exhibition. A few months later, the OPPO Reno 10X Zoom version was released, becoming the company's first functional smartphone with polished optical zoom. In addition to the innovative zoom function, the two smartphones are also equipped with an eccentric rollover selfie camera with a screen-to-body ratio of an astonishing 93.1%. Huawei must be worried when it announced last month that the OPPO Reno series is now available at print prices.

OPPO Reno 10X zoom version.

The advantage of the two models, the OPPO Reno 10X Zoom version, as the name implies, supports 5x optics, 10x lossless hybrid zoom and up to 50x digital zoom. The smartphone uses three cameras, including the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, the fhand 1.7 aperture sensor and the 8 million pixel fhand 2.2 sensor, which are suitable for 120 wide field of view. For optical zoom, smartphones use periscope settings similar to Huawei's P30 Pro. The module uses a 13MP sensor with an aperture of fhand 3.0. With these specifications, OPPO Reno 10X Zoom is expected to compete fiercely with Huawei's flagship products. In terms of video, Reno supports recording up to 4k and 60fps, and uses multiple microphones to achieve stereo surround sound.

With a 6.6-inch full HD OLED display on the front and no slot, the 16MP selfie camera sits in a wedge-shaped gap that looks like a pie or pizza to me. Fixed at one end, the groove rises from the other end and can be rotated. It might be interesting to see this at the beginning of the surgery. Needless to say, this is also remarkable. The pop-up window also hides the front and rear flashlights and headphones. At the same time, there is a fingerprint scanner under the monitor.

In terms of hardware, the OPPO Reno 10X carries Snapdragon 855 and memory up to 8GB, which complements Haishi 980, Huawei's leading chipset. In addition, smartphones are equipped with 4065mAh batteries, which can be quickly recharged with VOOC 3.0.

On the software side, smartphones run ColorOS 6 based on Android 9, the first OPPO phone that runs the latest version of Android skin customized by the company. It will also be one of the first OPPO smartphones to be updated with Android Q.

OPPO Reno Standard Edition

OPPO Reno Standard Edition can also be used as an Lite version of OPPO Reno, sharing many features with other devices. Both smartphones use the same 48MP main sensor, the same RAM and storage options, and the same selfie camera on the back.

The OPPO Reno Standard differs from the 10X Zoom version in that it has a smaller 6.4in display organic light emitting diode (OLED) and a display fingerprint sensor. In addition, it has dual cameras on the back, including a 5MP auxiliary sensor to supplement the main 48MP and the Snapdragon 710 SoC. This smartphone does not support optical zoom.

And price availability.

As for the OPPO Reno 10X Zoom, the 6GB/128GB version costs 39990 pounds ($575) and the 8GB/256GB version costs 49990 pounds ($720).

The standard version, on the other hand, is available only in 8GB/128GB and costs 32990 pounds (about $475).

The two devices are sold only through Flipkart, and appointments start today, May 28th and June 7th.
