Of course, you can also choose to install Exchange Server 2019 into the Windows Server 2016 Core or Windows Server 2016Unix 2019 desktop experience environment, but running Exchange Server 2019 on Windows Server Core 2019 is the best choice recommended by Microsoft.

Exchange Server 2019 can run on servers with up to 48 processor cores and 256GB RAM.

Microsoft uses Bing technology to reset the search function to make it faster and provide better results, and this design makes database failover faster and easier to manage. Starting with Exchange Server 2019, the search index is within the database itself, and there are no more separate log files to manage. Because the index data is now in the database, normal log shipping includes the database and search data in a single replication, and the index is always the latest version of all database replicas.

Microsoft said on Ignite last year that Exchange Online had started using SSD solid state disks, which shocked many IT Pro. Doesn't Microsoft always tell users to use cheap, low-cost storage? I hooked up with SSD again, isn't that a little.

In fact, what Microsoft is saying is that Exchange Online uses SSD in addition to cheap mechanical disks. The main reason for this is that Exchange Online has taken the cheap storage solution to the extreme, where these disks are growing in storage capacity without really improving read latency. That's why Microsoft uses ultra-fast storage devices to store critical search data, allowing users to log in faster and retrieve information faster. The end result: Exchange Online still uses low-cost storage to store all data, but uses SSD more intelligently to improve the overall user experience.

Microsoft has now decided to add the tiered storage read / write capability used by Exchange Online to Exchange Server 2019, but it can only be enabled in subsequent preview versions.

Exchange Server 2019 user experience

One of the most important functions of Exchange is "calendar". In all large enterprises, especially multinational and cross-regional organizations, most of them are heavy "calendar" users. Exchange Server 2019 brings us key features such as "do not forward" and "simplify calendar sharing", and administrators have gained some new calendar management capabilities that allow administrators to manage events on users' calendars and assign agent permissions more easily.

It is important to note that the Unified messaging role is not available in Exchange Server 2019, and enterprises that currently connect third-party PBX or Skype for Business Server to Exchange Server will not be able to use Exchange Server 2019 mailboxes to perform such operations. Enterprises considering upgrading to Exchange Server 2019 should consider migrating to Skype for Business Server 2019 and using Cloud Voicemail, or to Office 2019 using Cloud Voicemail.
