What's wrong with Gigabit Ethernet?

1.x/y/z represents: xth device, 2113th y board, zth port 5261, where z can be repeated on the same device and board, but 4102 corresponds to Fastethernet (100 megabit 1653 port) and Gigabit port respectively.

This form of expression only appears in the command line, and the specific device can generally only be marked with z, because x indicates the number of cascaded devices, and y indicates the number of cards inserted on the device. If you're dealing with just one device, x is always 0, and if you don't have any other expansion slots at all on your device, y is always 0, otherwise you have to identify the device order of x yourself, or find the slot number y on the device.

3. As for z, it is generally marked next to each port, of course, some devices only mark the first and last ports for consecutive dense ports, such as 1, 2 and 23, 24, others are not marked. Fastethernet and Gigabit Ethernet cards that exist at the same time will be divided into different areas. Generally, the number of Gigabit Ethernet is small and most of them are optical ports, but there will be no complete label, or even no label, which can only be determined according to experience.

IP has nothing to do with switches. But if you know an IP and want to know which port it came from, you can do it by:

(1)Your computer is also on this switch or within this segment: ping this IP, then use the arp command to see the mac address corresponding to this IP, and then log in to the switch and use the displaymac... command to see the port corresponding to this mac.

(2)If it is cross-segment, you can only log on to the router connected to this switch, use the displayarp... command to view the IP and mac tables, and then log on to the switch to check the relationship between mac and port.

5. After determining the x/y/z of E or G, follow the descriptions in 1, 2, and 3 to determine the physical location.
