I wonder if any of my brothers have designed a relative architecture. Today, I will introduce the architecture I designed.

I have introduced this blog before   , in which I will use Microsoft's architectural design tools to design architectures. you can understand that this blog introduces the use of this tool.

I believe you have seen lunch a little impatient, and then I will introduce to you how to use the tool, I believe that I have read the last blog may know that there is such a need.

Plan mailbox size based on employee level (5G for big leader, 3G for general leader, 2G for finance department, 1G for technical department, personnel department, legal department and sales department, 500m for remaining deployment)

In fact, this requirement needs another piece of information to design the architecture, that is, how many people are there in each department, as I wrote in my last blog, the details are as follows:

At present, ITSoul has about 3000 people, and has deployed active Directory, single Forest, single Domain and single site, and the domain name is ITsoul.inter. At present, the company has 15 senior leaders, 120 ordinary leaders and 2865 ordinary employees (including 1000 in the technical department, 350in finance, 280in personnel, 70 in the legal department, 700in the sales department, 300in the Ministry of Commerce and 2865 in other departments).

With the above two pieces of information, we can start to design the architecture. The design steps are as follows:

First of all, after opening it, we need to select the Exchange version to be designed. The latest version supports the architecture design of the two versions of Exchange 2013 and Exchange. Secondly, we need to select the system version, whether the server for Exchange is 64-bit or 32-bit.

3. Next, we choose whether the server used to deploy Exchange is a virtual machine and whether we want to make it highly available. Here we use a virtual machine, and we need to do NLB and DAG, so I chose "Yes" in both places.

4. Next, pull the form to the right and choose whether the architecture to be designed is to design DR. Our environment does not consider DR for the time being, so choose "No". The DR you often say is neither NLB nor DAG. Later, I will take the time to use a blog to introduce this function in detail. If you want to know about this function, you can follow my younger brother's blog. After the update, you will be notified on Wechat.

5. After completing the above steps, we choose to have several replicas and the number of delayed replicas for each database plus master replica in the whole architecture. Here, I plan to make one copy for each database, so if we add the master replica to 2, I choose 2. Since we do not need to use deferred replicas, we can choose 0, as shown in the figure:

6. Keep the rest of the content in step 1 by default

Next we carry on the content in step 2, step 2 is mainly to calculate the space needed, the tool supports four types of users to calculate together, in order to let the old guys understand, I calculate once for each type of user.

7. First of all, let's calculate the storage space needed by the big leaders. Let's look back at the number of big leaders and the mailbox quota for each leader.

According to the description of the previous blog, we learned that there are 15 senior leaders in the company, and the limit of each mailbox is 5G, so I believe some old friends will ask me, what is this? 15 leaders, each 5G, then it is not 15X5=95G. Why bother? in fact, this is not the case. On this basis, we also need to add the Log file of each user. Microsoft is a formula used to calculate this. So let's see how to calculate using this tool.

8. First of all, let's calculate as follows.

Number of  users: 15

 sends and receives an average of 50 emails a day.

Average 75K per email in 

 per person mailbox size 5GB

9. Next, proceed to steps 3 and 4. Step 3 and 4 can select the hard disk according to the actual environment. I will keep the default here.

10. Step 5 also choose the number of CPU cores according to the actual environment, and I keep the default here.

Step 6 is not very useful, and I keep the default here.

12. Step 7 is more important. Here we can define the number of servers and the number of DAG needed. It is recommended not to let it calculate by itself. It is best to give a value. According to my plan, 2 servers are used to deploy Ex2016 and 1 DAG is deployed, so here I choose 2 servers and 1 DAG. If you want to define the DAG name, you can also modify the server name here.

13. Based on the above, we can calculate the following information (click the Role Requirements of the table):

The details are as follows:

 needs 245g of space for the entire DAG.

 each server is divided into 1 disk, each disk 123G (of course, it can also be divided into multiple disks according to the demand)

 requires a total of 2 databases, each of which hosts 8 users (can be modified to 1 library according to requirements)

14. Above, we have calculated the disk space needed by the leader. Next, you can refer to the above steps to calculate the storage space for other positions. Here, I will paste the screenshot after the calculation is completed. (everyone knows how to finish, so I won't replace the next pictures one by one.)

11. Based on the above calculations, we can draw the following conclusions:
