1. Install Centos7.6 on the virtual machine

I chose the Centos7.6 downloaded by Aliyun.

Link image address: https://mirrors.aliyun.com/centos/

The next version of DVD has a lot of pitfalls to avoid at the end of the standard.

A virtual PC, but not yet installed with the linux operating system. Here, let's move on to how to install the CentOS version of linux on a virtual machine.

Click on the virtual machine interface of VMware, select the virtual machine CentOS7.6 we created, and then double-click the simulated optical drive device in the virtual machine. As shown below:

Change the optical drive settings and use the ISO image file to install the linux system.

Turning on the virtual machine is equivalent to turning on the power of the computer to start the computer.

While starting the virtual machine, press the Ctrl+G key or click inside the virtual machine to direct the input to the virtual machine, and then quickly press the F2 key to open the BIOS interface of the linux system. Because we are using CD-ROM to install linux operating system, the default first boot item of BIOS is hard disk boot. If you install the linux operating system on a real machine from a CD-ROM, you need to change the CD boot to the first boot item during installation, and then change the hard disk boot back to the first boot item after the system installation is complete. However, if you install the linux operating system in a virtual machine, you do not need to change the startup item settings of BIOS, and the virtual machine automatically recognizes and adjusts it. Therefore, we don't have to worry about this step here. After enabling the virtual machine, quickly change the CD setting of the virtual machine to the following settings, that is, check "connected" and "connect at startup", as shown in the following figure:

If the CD image file is loaded and recognized correctly, the following CD boot interface appears. If an error occurs, restart the virtual machine and make sure the CD is set correctly.

Here is a brief introduction to the meaning of these five options in the CD boot interface:

Install or upgrade an existing system: install or upgrade the system (this option is used when installing the system).

Install system with basic video driver: use the basic graphics card driver to install the system.

Rescue installed system: repair installed systems.

Boot from local drive: exit the installation and boot from the hard drive.

Memory test: storage media detection. Enter directly and start the installation process. The following interface will appear: ask if you need to detect the CD image file? Since there is nothing wrong with the CentOS system image we downloaded, we chose "Skip" to speed up the installation process.

If everything is normal, you will enter the graphical installation interface of linux. As shown below: click "Next" for the next step. To set the language used during the installation, select "simplified Chinese" here.

Click "Next" next, set up the appropriate system keyboard, and select "American English style" here.

Click next and select basic Storage device. Then, continue to click "next".

It will remind you that the virtual hard disk of the virtual machine may contain data. Since we are installing the operating system on the hard disk for the first time, the hard disk itself is empty and there is no data, so choose "Yes, ignore all data" here.

Set the computer name of the virtual PC with the default value. Click "next".

Set the time zone of the linux system and use the default value of "Asia / Shanghai". Click "next". Set the password for the root account (root user, that is, Super Admin). Here, for convenience, set it to 123456. Click "next".

Ask what type of installation you want to do? The default value is "replace existing Linux system", which means that the previous linux partition is deleted and then partitioned and formatted automatically. Since we are learning to install the linux system, we also learn how to partition manually and select "create Custom layout" to partition the virtual hard disk manually. Click next.

Here is how to partition and format the virtual hard disk manually (skip this step if you did not choose "create Custom layout" in the previous step). In the process of disk partitioning, the necessary partition is the root partition (mount point is /) and swap partition (no mount point), and the recommended partition is boot partition (mount point is / boot). Generally, partition operations are performed in the order of boot partition, swap partition and root partition. The specific steps are as follows:

First, create a boot partition (boot partition) and click create.

Select the standard partition and click create.

The startup partition size allocation of 200m is sufficient, click OK.

Then, to create the swap partition (swap partition), the type is still the standard partition, with a size allocation of 1024m. Click OK.

Finally, create the root partition, which is still the standard partition, and select "use all available space" (if you need to allocate disk space to other subdirectories, such as / home, you can do so just before the root partition). Click OK. Here, we only create these three partitions.

Click "next" to format the virtual hard disk. Click format.

After the formatting is complete, the following interface appears, indicating that the bootstrap program is installed on the virtual hard disk. Just use the default value and click "next".

In general, if you are familiar with linux, it is recommended to use "Minimal" to minimize installation. However, for beginners, if you choose to minimize installation, commonly used software or commands will not exist, beginners may be a little at a loss, at this point, it is best to choose "Basic Server". Here, we also select the "Basic Server" option and click "next".

Here are a brief introduction to these eight installation options:

Desktop: desktop, that is, install the graphical interface.

Minimal Desktop: minimize the desktop, that is, install a minimized graphical interface.

Minimal: minimizes installation and has no graphical interface.

Basic Server: basic server.

Database Server: database server.

Web Server:Web server.

Virtual Host: virtual host.

Software Development Workstation: software development workstation.

Different installation options, after the installation of the linux system, the software or commands contained in the system will be different.

If you are familiar with the linux system, you can also choose "customize now" and manually select the package you want to install. )

After the installation is complete, the following interface appears, informing you that the CentOS system has been installed and prompting you to restart. Just click "reboot".

The interface of the restarted CentOS system is as follows:

At this point, the entire installation process of the linux system is complete.
