Oracle xmltype is a new data type supported since Oracle 9i, which is used to store and manage xml data, and provides many functions for saving, retrieving and manipulating xml documents and managing nodes. XMLType is a system-defined type, so you can use it as a parameter to a function or as a data type for a column in a table or view. You can also create XMLTypes for tables and views. When you create an XMLType column in a table, you can choose to store XML data in a CLOB column, as binary XML (internally stored as CLOB), or as object relationships.

Here are some basic uses of Oracle XMLTypes.

Create a table with XMLType columns and insert test data
