Shulou(Shulou.com)06/03 Report--

How to distinguish the net cable? I believe that many inexperienced people are helpless about this. For this reason, this article summarizes the causes and solutions of the problem. Through this article, I hope you can solve this problem.

Methods for distinguishing several types of network cables: 1. The internal structure of Class VI network cable and Class V network cable is different, and the internal structure of Class VI network cable is added with cross skeleton;2. The copper core size of Class VI network cable and Class V network cable is different, and the copper core of Class V network cable is below [0.45mm].

Methods to distinguish between several types of network cable:

The distinction is as follows:

1. The internal structure of Class VI network cable and Class V network cable is different. The internal structure of Class VI network cable increases the cross skeleton. The four pairs of twisted pair cables are placed in the four grooves of the cross skeleton respectively. The cross skeleton in the center of the cable rotates with the change of length.

2. The copper core size of Class VI network cable and Class V network cable is different. The copper core of Class V network cable is below 0.45mm, the super Class V network cable is 0.45mm-0.51mm, and the standard of Class VI network cable is 0.56mm-0.58mm.

3. Class 5 network cable: The outer skin will be marked with the word "CAT5", and the transmission bandwidth is 100MHz. It is used for voice transmission and data transmission with the highest transmission rate of 100Mbps. It is mainly used for 100-megabit network and 10-megabit network, which has been replaced by super Class 5 line.

4. Super Class 5 network cable: The outer skin is marked with the words "CAT5e", and the transmission bandwidth can be as high as 1000Mb/s, but it is generally only used in 100Mb/s networks, and only the connection from desktop switch to computer is realized, because the super Class 5 non-shielded network cable needs to be supported by expensive special equipment.

5. Class VI network cable: The outer skin is marked with the word "CAT6," which generally refers to non-shielded network cable. It is mainly used in gigabit network, and its transmission performance is much higher than that of Class V network cable standard.

Type of network cable

Twisted pairs can be divided into unshielded twisted pair (UTP) and shielded twisted pair (STP).

Shielded twisted pair cables are coated with aluminum platinum to reduce radiation, but they do not completely eliminate radiation. Shielded twisted pair cables are relatively expensive and more difficult to install than unshielded twisted pair cables.

Unshielded twisted pair cables have the following advantages: no shielding jacket, small diameter, saving space occupied; light weight, easy to bend, easy to install; near end crosstalk to minimize or eliminate; flame retardant; independence and flexibility, suitable for structured integrated wiring.

Common types of twisted pairs are as follows:

Category 1 cable (CAT1): used primarily for voice transmission (CAT 1 standard was used primarily for telephone cables prior to the early 1980s), unlike data transmission.

CAT2: Transmission frequency of 1MHz, used for voice transmission and data transmission at a maximum transmission rate of 4Mbps, common in older token networks using the 4MBPS specification token passing protocol.

Class 3 cable (CAT3): Transmission frequency 16MHz, used for voice transmission and data transmission up to 10Mbps, mainly used for 10BASE--T, cables specified in ANSI and EIA/TIA568 standards.

Category 4 (CAT4): Transmission frequency of 20MHz, used for voice transmission and data transmission at the highest transmission rate of 16Mbps, mainly used for token-based local area network and 10BASE-T/100BASE-T.

Category 5 cable (CAT5): transmission frequency of 100MHz, used for voice transmission and data transmission with a maximum transmission rate of 100Mbps, mainly used for 100BASE-T and 10BASE-T networks, this is the most commonly used Ethernet cable, this type of cable increases the winding density, jacket a high quality insulation material.

CAT5e: Transmission frequency of 100MHz, mainly used for Gigabit Ethernet (1000Mbps).

It has small attenuation, less crosstalk, higher attenuation to crosstalk ratio (ACR) and signal-to-noise ratio (Structural Return Loss), smaller delay error, and greatly improved performance.

CAT6: The transmission frequency is 250MHz, which is most suitable for applications with transmission rates higher than 1 Gbps, mainly for Gigabit Ethernet (1000Mbps).

Class 6 twisted pair has certain differences in appearance and structure from Class 5 or Super Class 5 twisted pair, not only adding insulated cross skeleton, placing four pairs of twisted pair wires in four grooves of cross skeleton, but also thicker cable diameter.

Category 6 or CAT6A: Transmission frequency is 200~250 MHz, maximum transmission speed can also reach 1000 Mbps, mainly used in gigabit networks.

Super Category 6 cable is an improved version of Category 6 cable, which is also an unshielded twisted pair cable specified in ANSI/EIA/TIA-568B.2 and ISO Class 6/Class E standards, with great improvement in crosstalk, attenuation and signal-to-noise ratio.

CAT7: The transmission frequency can reach at least 500 MHz and the transmission rate can reach 10 Gbps. It is mainly used to adapt to the application and development of 10 Gigabit Ethernet technology. This wire is the latest shielded twisted pair in ISO Class 7/F standards.
