Huawei unveiled its Mate20 series on Tuesday, well ahead of Android's flagship in 2018. As revealed in the past few months, the new Mate20 phone will provide features that will not be available on other Android flagships for at least five months. Huawei's Mate20 phone immediately became the best competitor to iPhoneXS, at least on paper, and the high-end model could easily become the scariest Android phone in the world's history.

Huawei's Mate20 and Mate20Pro look just like they did in all the leaks. Ordinary Mate20 screens are flat, with teardrop-like gaps, while Mate20Pro is characterized by gaps and curved screens similar to iPhoneX (3D face recognition is similar to face ID), such as Samsung's GalaxyS and Note phones. The phone also encapsulates a fingerprint sensor, which is said to be 10% faster than other sensors, and a USB-C port that doubles as a bottom speaker. Neither model has a 3.5mm headphone Jack, and the phones are rated IP68 (Mate20Pro) and IP53 (Mate20).

Matt 20Pro has a 6.4inch curved OLED screen, 3120x1440 resolution, 19.5: 9 aspect ratio, and 86.90% screen-to-body ratio. At the same time, Mate20 has a 6.5inch LCD screen with a resolution of 2244x1080, an aspect ratio of 18.7: 9 and a screen ratio of 88.08 per cent. Huawei insists that its Mate20 phone is the best in terms of processor and RAM speed, Wi-Fi downloads, GPS accuracy, camera performance and battery performance.

The phone is the first 7-nanometer processor on an Android device, and the Kirin 980 unveiled at IFA earlier this year. Other specifications include 6GB or 8GB LPDDR4X memory (Mate20Pro), 4GB 6GB memory (Mate20), 128GB storage, and Caterpillar. 21 offline support (1.4 gigabits per second), faster wireless networks. Matt 20 has 4000 m Ah battery, while Matt 20Pro has 4200 m Ah battery. Matt 20Pro supports 40W fast wired charging (up to 70% in 30 minutes); Matt 20 supports 22W fast wired charging, and both models support 15W fast wireless charging.

Interestingly, Huawei is the world's first accessory that can be used for wireless charging, such as headphones and other smartphones.

Both phones are equipped with new SIM card trays that support two SIM cards, or one SIM card and Huawei's new nano memory card, which can reach 256GB.

Both phones have three-lens cameras, but one on Mate20Pro is better. The Matt 20 carries 16 million-pixel wide-angle, 12 million-pixel wide-angle and 8 million-pixel telephoto sensors. At the same time, the Mate20Pro has a wide-angle of 400000 pixels, an ultra-wide-angle of 200000 pixels, and a telephoto lens of 80 million pixels. Ahead, next to the Mate20Pro is a 24 million-pixel sensor that can unlock 3D faces, 3D live expressions and scan 3D objects. Like previous models, Mate20 phones offer a number of AI-enhanced shooting modes, including real-time video editing and special effects.

Huawei's Mate20 and Mate20Pro will launch Android9.0Pie on board, although you will find Huawei's EMUI9.0 on it. Matt 20Pro starts at 1049 pounds ($1217) in Europe, which is cheaper than iPhoneXS in the region but comparable to Samsung's Galaxy Note9. The Matt 20 starts at £799 ($927) and rises to £849 ($985) if you want more memory.
