Shulou(Shulou.com)06/02 Report--

W3C starts the Web performance working group to carry on the example analysis of Web application performance measurement. I believe that many inexperienced people are at a loss about this. Therefore, this paper summarizes the causes and solutions of the problem. Through this article, I hope you can solve this problem.

Recently, the W3C announced on its website the establishment of the Web performance working Group (Web Performance Working Group), which will be chaired by engineers from Google and Microsoft, with the goal of developing methods and API to measure the performance of Web applications. According to the working group's charter, these measures and API will be applied to desktop and mobile browsers as well as other environments to help Web developers evaluate and understand the performance characteristics of applications.

Currently, the working group plans to provide three timing methods within a year:

◆ navigation timing (Navigation Timing), which provides performance information for loading a web page root document (root document), which may include information such as the time spent on the network, the time it takes to load the document, and the number of network requests.

◆ resource timing (Resource Timing), which provides performance information for loading specific resources in the root document of a web page, which may include time spent on the network, time to load resources, such as iframe, img, script, object, embed, and link.

◆ user timing (User Timing), which obtains timing information according to the name specified by the developer.

Jason Weber from Microsoft, one of the co-chairs of the working group, commented on the matter on Internet Explorer's official blog: "making Web developers understand the real performance data of their applications is critical to the success of HTML 5. We are very pleased to be chosen as co-leader with Google. We hope to work with the W3C and the broad Web community to achieve the goals of the working group through interoperable API."

For the next phase of the task of the working group, Jason Weber pointed out that navigation timing will be the focus. "the result of the working group will be to propose an API to measure the navigation performance of browsers. The WebTimings specification (drafted by Google) is a good starting point, so it will be moved to the Web performance working group and become the basis of our recommendations."

After reading the above, have you mastered the method that W3C starts the Web performance working group to analyze the example of Web application performance measurement?
