1. VMware virtual machine downtime

Note to record the configuration of the virtual machine, including CPU, memory, disk.

3.1.2 the virtual machine image is uploaded to the cloud platform control node

Transfer the ova file to the control node.

3.1.3 Virtual Machine Image format conversion

1. Extract files in ova format

Execute command: tar-xvf filename. Ova

2. Format conversion

Convert the decompressed vmdk format file to raw or qcow2 format

A) convert to raw:

The file name that qemu-img convert needs to convert .vmdk-f vmdk-O raw converted file name .raw

B) convert to qcow2:

Qemu-img convert needs converted filename .vmdk-f vmdk-O qcow2 converted filename .qcow2

3.1.4 Virtual machine images are imported to the cloud platform

Note: before importing, enter the command source / root/openrc

A) upload image command in raw format:

Glance image-create-- name uploaded image name-- visibility public-- disk-format raw-- container-format bare-- file original image directory and name .raw-- progress

B) upload image command in qcow2 format:

Glance image-create-- name uploaded image name-- visibility public-- disk-format qcow2-- container-format bare-- file original image directory and name .qcow2-- progress

Create a virtual machine with the uploaded image, and the migration is complete.

3.2 windows virtual machine migration detailed steps 3.2.1 VMware virtual machine image export

1. VMware virtual machine downtime

2. Export the mirror image

3.2.2 Virtual Machine Image format conversion

1. Extract files in ova format

Open the kvm console (virt-manager) on the computer where the linux system is installed, and create a virtual machine with the converted file

2. Configure the virtual machine

a. Add disk associated image file, set disk interface mode (IDE), storage format (RAW)

b. Add disk associated empty file test.raw (disk interface mode is set to virtio), storage format (RAW)

c. Add the optical drive associated driver file XXX.iso (please download the driver file yourself)

d. Turn on the virtual machine (boot the hard disk that is set to the image file)

3. Install the driver for the virtual machine

Installing a driver is the same as installing a driver for our own computer.

4. Virtual machine shutdown

3.2.5 upload the virtual machine image to the control node of the cloud platform

Transfer the image file of the installed driver to the control node

3.2.6 Virtual machine images are imported to cloud platform

Execute the command on the control node: source / root/openrc

Execute the command on the control node:

Glance image-create-- name uploaded image name-- visibility public-- disk-format raw-- container-format bare-- file original image directory and name .raw-- progress

3. Create a virtual machine through image

Note: to create a virtual machine, the original configuration should remain unchanged.

Log in to the cloud platform and you can see the uploaded image in the image menu

Create a virtual machine with the uploaded image

View the virtual machine in the console. The virtual machine was migrated successfully.
