Public folders are designed for shared access and provide an easy and effective way to collect, organize, and share information with others in your workgroup or organization. Public folders are hierarchically organized, stored in dedicated databases, and can be replicated between Exchange servers. Create a public folder database before creating a public folder

First create a public folder database as shown in the following figure

In the console tree, navigate to Organization configuration > Mailbox. Create a new Public folder Database in the blank space

The properties of the public folder database and the mailbox database are basically the same, the biggest difference is that the public folder database can control the interval of replication.

In the console tree, click Toolbox.

In the results pane, double-click the Public folder Management console to open the Public folder Management console

In the Public folder Management console, in the public folder tree, navigate to default Public folder, and then in the actions pane, click New Public folder.

Fill in the folder name.

Path: use this read-only box to verify the path to the public folder. If this box displays a backslash (\), the public folder you create is the top-level public folder.

To change the path, close the wizard, select the public folder under which you want to create this public folder in the public folder management console, and start the wizard again.

Enable mail for public folders

Mail-enabled public folders will be represented by the following icon.

Public folders that are not mail-enabled will be represented by the following icon.

Not enabling mail does not affect the use of public folders, but cannot deliver messages like folders

In the permission settings in the properties, you can set permissions for this folder, authorize users to edit the folder, and so on.

If the mail feature is not enabled, the properties are displayed as follows

Send mail tests like this folder

Open outlook and you can see the public folder and its contents

Right-click in the blank space to create articles, etc.

If an account is added to a public folder later, you can see the contents of the previous folder.
