Shulou(Shulou.com)06/02 Report--

It has been almost a week since the last blog post update of Exchange 2016 Deployment Implementation Case-02. Active Directory Deployment. Recently, I have been busy with things on the project and soft exams. I am really a little exhausted. I recently read the next blog post. I don't know why the traffic has not gone up. I am really a little disappointed. I hope you can give us your valuable opinions and see how to increase the number of visitors.

I originally planned to divide the deployment chapter into two parts, but recently I found that many old people don't know Exchange very well, so I added such a chapter and divided the Exchange deployment chapter into three parts, the first part, the second part and the third part. The next part mainly introduces some of the prerequisites for Exchange. The next article focuses on the deployment steps for Exchange Server 2016.

Exchange Server

Talking about Exchange this product, friends who know or have contacted may know that Exchange is a set of mail system solutions from Microsoft. Recently, a set of data from Microsoft in early 2017 showed that about 85% of enterprises in the Chinese market are using Microsoft Exchange Server products.

Microsoft Exchange Server 4.0 was released on June 11, 1996, and Exchange Server 2016 has been around for 21 years. Exchange has undergone tremendous changes over the past 21 years, and products are becoming more and more mature. More and more enterprises are using Exchange. Exchange 2007 is still the first version of Exchange. In 2010, it has been about 3 years since Exchange.

If you want to know the version and release date of Exchange, you can see this link:

Exchange Server Update: Build Number and Release Date:

https://technet.microsoft.com/zh-cn/library/hh235098(v=exchg.150).aspx

In the past three years, the development of Exchange really surprised me, the biggest change is the role of the server and the management interface, we all know that in Exchange 2010 and before the era, Exchange has always had 5 roles, each role has a different role, deployment is really a bit complicated, and that management interface is not stuck. Perhaps Microsoft's Exchange R & D team also recognized this point, starting from Exchange 2013 Microsoft made a bold operation, the roles slowly merged together, the management interface also changed from the traditional interface to web management, and now Exchange 2016 only has 2 roles left.

Talking about this, I believe there are friends who can't wait to deploy a set of Exchange Server to play, then I also believe that the old iron will ask me what is needed to deploy Exchange, what kind of server can be deployed Exchange, how much memory is needed, how to divide the disk, for the planning of the server, the old iron can refer to my "Exchange 2016 Deployment Implementation Case-01. Architecture Design (II)", This article details the use of Microsoft's Exchange Planning Tool.

Prerequisites Prerequisites for coexistence

When our server is ready for everything, we need to meet what conditions we need to deploy Exchange Server, and the prerequisites are what we often call "prerequisites"

Let's first look at what the official requirements for servers look like. The reference links are as follows:

https://technet.microsoft.com/zh-cn/library/aa996719(v=exchg.160).aspx

First of all, we can see from the link that Exchange 2016 can coexist with those earlier versions of Exchange. You may not understand the coexistence. To put it bluntly, if you have already deployed a version of Exchange Server in your environment, you need to update the existing Exchange version to that version to deploy Exchange 2016 without moving the existing Exchange.

hardware requirements

After talking about the prerequisites for coexistence, let's take a look at what is required to deploy Exchange Server 2016 at the hardware level, as shown in the figure:

According to the screenshot above, we can see that the hardware required to deploy Exchange Server 2016 is not too large. I believe that the servers currently on the market should be able to meet this requirement.

operating system support

After talking about hardware support, I believe there will be an old iron asking me, I have a server, what operating system should I install, then let's take a look at the deployment of Exchange Server 2016 on those systems.

As you can see from the screenshot, there are currently three versions of the operating system that support deploying Exchange Server 2016.

Active Directory Support

As we all know, Exchange Server has been dependent on Microsoft Active Directory since its birth. Next, let's take a look at the operating system, forest and domain functions of our Active Directory to basically meet what conditions can be met to deploy Exchange Server 2016, as shown in the figure:

Client support

After understanding the above prerequisites, I believe there will be friends asking such a question, I now know that the deployment of Exchange Server 2016 needs to meet those conditions, then I will deploy Exchange 2016 later, what kind of client can link to Exchange, mail receiving and sending work.

In fact, Exchange Server 2016 does have certain requirements for clients, so let's take a look at what version of the client can support Exchange Server 2016.

· Outlook 2016

· Outlook 2013

Outlook 2010 SP2 and KB2956191 and KB2965295 updates

Outlook for Mac for Office 365

· Outlook for Mac 2011

end

According to the above introduction, I believe that you have some understanding of Exchange Server, and have a certain understanding of the prerequisites for deploying Exchange Server 2016, then today's introduction is here, the next article I will introduce the prerequisites and deployment of deploying Exchange Server 2016 software for you in detail.
