ESX 5i 1TB storage, the file system is VMFS,VMFS storage in the virtual machine file (VMDK) is lost, causing the database in the virtual machine to be inaccessible.

Data recovery plan and results:

1. Back up the original 1TB VMFS storage as an image file

two。 Analyze the generated image file, reverse find the missing virtual machine file index according to the data deletion characteristics of VMFS file system and the referable information provided by users, and repair the corresponding file system index.

3. Migrate the lost data of the modified file system to secure storage through self-developed software

4. Configure the environment required for the normal operation of the virtual machine, and start the virtual machine for data verification

5. The virtual machine starts normally, and it is verified that the required data has been perfectly restored, and the data recovery work is complete.
