Step 4. Create a system management container

Describes the configuration of Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS) on AD01, and then joins the Configuration Manager server (CM16) into the newly created domain. Then you create users, user groups, and OU in Active Directory, and create a system management container. Finally, delegate the permissions of the Configuration Manager server to the System Management container

SCCM 2016 configuration Management Series (Part 5-8)

Windows Server 2016 roles and features are configured on the Configuration Manager master server (CM16), and Windows ADK 1709 components are downloaded and installed. Next, SQL Server 2017 CU5 is installed and the WSUS role is added.

The role uses SQL to store SUSDB instead of Windows Internal Database (WID)

Next, start the CM16 configuration.

Step 1. Install roles and Features on CM16

Note: do the following as a local administrator on the Configuration Manager server (CM16)

To support various features in System Center Configuration Manager, the installation wizard requires some server roles and features to be pre-installed. On CM16, log in with the user name you added to the local administrators group and start the server manager.

The role and functional requirements of ConfigMgr are listed here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/plan-design/configs/site-and-site-system-prerequisites. On CM16, log in as a user with administrative privileges on the server. Start Server Manager.

Click add roles and Features, and on the before you start page, click next

Select role-based or feature-based installation

In the Server selection screen, select CM16.djclouds.com, and then click next

On the Server roles screen, select Web Service (IIS)

When you are prompted to add features for the Web server (IIS), click add Features

Click next, and then select the .NET Framework 3.5 (including .NET 2.0 and 3.0) features on the Features screen

Expand the .NET Framework 4.6 feature and select HTTP Activation under the WCF service, and answer the add function when prompted.

Select message queuing (MSMQ) activation, and select add feature when prompted

Select named pipe activation and TCP activation, and select IIS server extension under background Intelligent transfer Service (BITS). Click add function when prompted to add function

Scroll down and select remote differential compression

Click next, and click next on the Web Server role (IIS) screen

On Select role Services, verify that the following has been selected

Click next, and then click specify alternate Source path to point to installation Source

Enter the path to the media, for example: e:\ Sources\ SxS

Click install when you are ready, and you can export configuration settings for later automation

Click close after the feature is successfully installed.
