Dymola is a multidisciplinary system simulation platform of French Dassault Systems company, which is widely used in the overall system architecture design, index decomposition, system function verification and optimization of automobile, industry, transportation, energy and other industries at home and abroad. Dymola supports FMI standard interface protocol, which can be used to integrate models built by different software with different levels of detail for MIL, SIL and HIL testing.

As a multidisciplinary system simulation platform, Dymola provides physical interfaces of multiple attributes, covering mechanical, electrical, thermal, fluid, control and other fields. Combined with the Modelica basic library and commercial library provided by Dymola, it is convenient for users to create physical system architecture and system function models of different complexity. Modelica Foundation Library provides customers with new research achievements of Modelica Association in mechanical, fluid, electrical and electronic, electromagnetic, control, heat transfer and other engineering fields free of charge. The model of Dymola can be used for HIL testing and supports real-time simulation systems such as NI, dSPACE, Concurrent, HiGale, RT-Lab, ETAS and so on.
Electrical system model base
For new energy vehicles, Dymola provides battery library, fuel battery library, electric system library and vehicle power library. Combined with the electrical model library and intelligent motor library in Dymola, it can be used to build complete hybrid electric vehicle, pure electric vehicle model, power supply network and charging pile model, and provides a perfect model for the simulation analysis and test of electrical system and vehicle dynamic characteristics of new energy vehicle.
The battery model base includes battery unit, battery pack and BMS. The single model takes into account the effects of temperature, life and SOC on battery performance. BMS can also add active preventive control in addition to traditional control.
There are all kinds of electrical components in the electric system library, including detailed semiconductor components, such as IGBT,BJT,MOSFET, etc., taking into account its transient effect and energy consumption. The motor model can accurately reflect the heat generation, cooling and the influence of temperature on the characteristics of the motor. The model base contains a variety of drive and control models to meet different simulation speed requirements.
Thermal management system model base
For the integrated thermal management system, Dymola provides air conditioning library, steam circulation library, liquid cooling library and heat exchanger library. Combined with the heat transfer system model library and adaptive solver in Dymola, it provides a complete solution for the collaborative simulation of the integrated thermal management system, including cab temperature control, engine cooling, battery pack cooling, motor cooling and so on.
Air conditioning warehouse is used for steady-state and transient system simulation and parameter optimization of air-conditioning refrigeration cycle. It is an advanced tool for modeling and analysis of air-conditioning system in Audi, BMW, Daimler, Volkswagen and other vehicle factories and their suppliers, and is used as a benchmark testing tool by German vehicle factories.
The liquid cold storage performs well in the simulation analysis of compressible or incompressible fluid system and fluid loop, and can accelerate the virtual prototype design and simulation of cooling system, complete component selection and size design, system performance research and transient response research. Support the rapid design and evaluation of the control system.
System architecture
With the help of the multidisciplinary system simulation platform Dymola, the whole vehicle or machine system architecture can be established, the coupling relationship between multiple subsystems can be defined, and a template simulation model can be created through physical interface and bus technology. the system models with different complexity can be verified on the same architecture, which can be applied to the early index design of the whole system and the detailed performance verification in the later stage.
At the same time, based on the FMI protocol of system integration, the FMU model generated by professional tools can be integrated into a unified system architecture to verify and evaluate the detailed physical characteristics of the system.
FMI (Functional Mock-Up Interface) is an open third-party standard interface protocol. Any software can develop an interface based on this protocol, encapsulate the model into FMU (Functional Mock-Up Unit) or import the FMU generated by other software to realize model interaction and joint simulation. Data exchange in heterogeneous model co-simulation can be realized based on FMI/FMU.
In the early stage of product development, FMU can be used as a model interaction tool for collaborative design between mainframe factories and suppliers. The main engine factory defines the system architecture, and combined with the FMU model provided by the supplier, establishes the system-level model, and carries on the scheme verification, optimization and component selection based on digital simulation.
At the same time, for some software which can not generate FMU model directly, FMI Toolbox can also be used to generate FMU.
Currently, tools that support FMI include ADAMS, AMESim, AUTOSAR, CarMaker, Concurrent, Cosimate, dSPACE, Dymola, ETAS, Excel, Flowmaster, ICOS, Matlab/Simulink, NI, Rhapsody, SIMPACK, TISC and so on.
