Before installing the CentOS host, you need to install the Cobbler server. VMware Workstation Pro 14 is used to install the CentOS host in this document, and the network mode needs to be the same as that of the Cobbler server.

Environment:

CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810

VMware Workstation Pro 14

Install a mainframe

Currently, it is operated by a virtual machine, and the virtual machine defaults to PXE boot. If it is a production environment, please enter BIOS to modify PXE boot.

New virtual machine

Note: give 100g hard disk, give it bigger. If you reinstall the system at a later stage of 20g, it may prompt that the space is too small.

Custom configuration

Note: the network of the Cobbler server is bridged, so the new host modified here is in the same network environment as the Cobbler server.

Power on

Select CentOS-7.6-x86_64

If you encounter a write error: No space left on device error, you need to make the memory of the virtual machine a little larger:

Turn off the computer and increase the memory:

Power on the system again:

Select CentOS-7.6-x86_64

Note: the virtual machine starts with PXE by default, so there is no need to manually configure the startup preference to be PXE.

As explained here, this mechanism is to prevent the misinstallation of Cobbler, and it will boot from the local hard disk if there is no response for 20 seconds. We can make it unprompted for subsequent automated installation.

Load boot file

It is already in installation, and the default is to minimize the installation, about 316 packages:

Installation completed: username root password 123456

Ping 192.168.1.7 can communicate with ping.

Ping www.163.com can be connected with ping.
