2. Extract the isolinux directory from iso and put it in e:\ F10\. Note: this is used to start the Fedora 10 hard disk installation program, mainly using vmlinuz and initrd.img files.

3. Extract the images directory from iso and put it in e:\ F10\. Note: images\ install.img files are mainly used

My hard drive partition is as follows:

C: fat32 3G

D: ntfs12G has xp installed

E: fat32 30G put some software and so on.

4. At this point, the documents related to iso are ready, and the files and paths are as follows:

E:\ F10\ Fedora-10-i386-DVD.iso

E:\ F10\ images\

E:\ F10\ isolinux\

To make it clear here, e: or c: is fine, as long as the vfat partition or ext partition that can be accessed from dos is fine. The directory f10 can be named whatever you want, or you can put it directly into the root directory. Isolinux can be put anywhere. However, it is important to note that the iso file and the images directory must be placed in the same level directory, because the installer will load install.img first and then look for iso in the directory where images is located. I spent a lot of time here!

5. Use grub to start the installer under dos.

I use dos4grub, which is installed in c:\ grub4dos\, which can be downloaded from the Internet. Then use the win98 boot disk to boot the computer to dos (of course, any boot disk that can boot to dos is fine), and then

C:\ > cd grub4dos

C:\ GRUB4DOS > grub.exe## execute this program and enter grub

After entering grub, select "commandline" and enter the following command at the grub prompt:

Grub > kernel (hd0,5) / f10/isolinux/vmlinuz

Grub > initrd (hd0,5) / f10/isolinux/initrd.img

After grub > boot, the installer starts. (hd0,5) is my e: disk.

6. After entering the installation interface, select the language "Choose a Language" of the installation interface. I choose English. The second step is to choose keyboard "Keyboard Type". I choose the default us.

7, the next two steps are more important, the third step to choose the installation of media, I use the hard disk installation, of course, to choose "Hard drive".

Step 4 "Select Partition" specifies the path of the image file, which is the path of my iso file and images. Three sda devices are listed here: / dev/sda1, / dev/sda5, / dev/sda6 for my e: disk is / dev/sda6, so I chose it. Then, enter / f10 in "Directory holding image:". The complete meaning is "/ dev/sda6/f10".

Note here that the "/" in front of "/ f10" must be written, if not written, it will prompt the error that the image file cannot be found. As a matter of fact, there was a mistake in this question before. The "/" was not written in the early examples in the official documents, and the document was corrected only after someone raised it later.
