On March 10, 2014, Jiangxi Geographic Information Public Service platform (Government version) was officially put into operation. On October 15, half a year later, Brother Tao came to Jiangxi Provincial Bureau of surveying and Mapping Geographic Information to learn more about the backstage data center that supports this public service platform.

The Jiangxi Provincial Bureau of surveying and Mapping Geographic Information only moved in August this year, and the new office building is located in a remote part of Nanchang (commercial houses are being built around it, and it is expected to be lively soon). The building is very elegant, but if you look inside, you can see that many places have not been finished yet. The new computer room is also built in this building, forming a "double live data center" more than 10 kilometers away from the computer room of the old office building.

According to the person in charge of the network center of Jiangxi surveying and Mapping Geographic Information Bureau, they also considered many ways in the construction mode of the data center, including one master and one backup, but in the end they decided to adopt the dual-live data center model. in a cloud way, data and applications can drift freely between the two data centers. The new and old data centers use exactly the same equipment, and the core storage devices all use EMC devices. They believe that the Shuanghuo data center can improve the resource utilization of the data center, make the business online in real time, and ensure that the Jiangxi geographic information public service platform provides services 24 hours a day.

At present, there are only six managers in the Shuanghuo data center. According to the head of the network center of Jiangxi Provincial Bureau of surveying and Mapping Geographic Information, the biggest problem in establishing a Shuanghuo data center is not technology and funds, but management. The person in charge said that because they have a lot of data to support the public service platform, and they have very high requirements for real-time and sustainability of services, they have adopted the dual-live data center model, while other users must adopt the dual-active data center model according to their actual application needs, not blindly in order to catch up with the new but not to adopt the dual-active mode.

Jiangxi geographic information public service platform should provide support for government decision-making, data support for government departments and enterprises, and open to the public at the same time. This platform is also interoperable with the national surveying and mapping geographic information system, and can be used as the most basic supporting platform for the construction of intelligent cities in Jiangxi Province. After the completion of the Jiangxi Provincial Geographic Information Public Service platform, many provincial leaders of Jiangxi Province have visited and inspected the Jiangxi Geographic Information Bureau of surveying and Mapping for many times, affirmed the construction of this platform, and made it clear at the relevant meetings that they do not want the relevant government departments to build their own IT platform, and Jiangxi Geographic Information Public Service platform can be used as a supporting platform. Other government departments only need to develop their own applications on it.

Brother Tao visited the data center computer room in the new office building. On the fourth floor of the building, there are two computer rooms, one for the external network and one for the network. Due to the confidentiality requirements of the data itself, Jiangxi surveying and Mapping Geographic Information Bureau strictly realizes the isolation of internal and external networks. Brother Tao mainly visits the computer room of the intranet. It is not fully built here, and some of the equipment is not yet in place. The computer room covers an area of about 300 square meters, like a knife handle, which is divided into two parts, and the cabinets of the two parts should be completely enclosed. At present, one side has been basically packaged, but the other side has only placed the cabinet and has not been closed yet.

The storage equipment used by Jiangxi Geographic Information Public Service platform in Shuanghuo data center is mainly EMC. In the past, the geographic information public service platform of Jiangxi Province has been using EMC products, so we can rest assured about this product. The person in charge of the network center said that in some applications that can use domestic equipment, they basically use domestic equipment. However, in the underlying and some core applications, where the requirements for performance and business continuity are very high, they still choose EMC devices, such as the high-end VMAX (although it is not the most high-end configuration, they will consider the actual application situation and will not blindly pursue the top end).

Jiangxi Geographic Information Public Service platform deals with structured and unstructured data separately. A large amount of unstructured data is stored on EMC isilon storage devices. EMC Data Domain products are also used for data backup.

In the computer room, there is no spacious monitoring room that the general data center computer room has. The person in charge of the network center said that the Shuanghuo data center is built according to the unattended computer room, so there is no need for a special monitoring room. A large display screen is installed on the wall of the office of the head of the network center, through which everything in the computer room can be displayed, and if there is an alarm, it will also be sent by email or text message.

It is said that some relevant government units have come here to learn from the experience, and are also prepared to follow this model to build a dual-live data center.
