First of all, let's introduce what a standard switch is. We created a standard switch to provide network connectivity between hosts and virtual machines. Standard switches bridge internal traffic between virtual machines in the same VLAN and link to external networks. Create a vSphere standard switch that provides network connectivity for hosts and virtual machines and handles VMkernel traffic. Depending on the type of connection you want to create, you can use the VMkernel adapter to create a new vSphere standard switch, connect only the physical network adapter to the new switch, or use the virtual machine port group to create the switch.

The following is the process of creating a standard switch

The operation process is to configure in the configuration tab of one of the established hosts!

1. First of all, on the configuration tab, expand the network and select a new virtual switch.

2. Next, click add Host Network Adapter.

Select the connection type for which you want to use the new standard switch, and then click next.

5. Add the physical network adapter to the new standard switch.

A. Under assigned Adapters, click add Adapter. (note: if there is no network card adapter, it needs to be added on the client server host. )

Select one or more physical network adapters from the list. (note: to achieve higher throughput and provide redundancy, configure at least two physical network adapters in the activity list. )

C. Click next to complete the assignment of the adapter. 6. If you create a new standard switch using a VMkernel adapter or virtual machine port group, enter the connection settings for the adapter or port group. 7. The next step is to configure the IP address of IPv4 and its subnet mask (using static IPv4 settings).

8. On the "ready to complete" page, click OK to complete the creation of the standard switch.

(note: if you want to communicate between virtual machines on two different hosts, you need to configure a standard switch on another host, the procedure is the same as above)

9. Then comes the work on the console, which is the legendary PING.
