Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--

I came to 51CTO for a year, learned a lot from you, read a lot of wonderful original technology blogs of my predecessors, sometimes I think of one day I can reach the height of my predecessors, and I can contribute a little bit of myself to the latecomers.

Last night, a former colleague came to ask me: he works in a small and medium-sized enterprise, the boss asked him to come up with some network management system recently, quite headache.

After I talked to him for more than half an hour, he had an epiphany and immediately went to organize his documents. Later, I looked at the chat records, which were nearly a thousand words. I wondered if I could sort out some of my experiences and views on network management over the years. I hope you can give me some opinions and suggestions when you see the bad places ^_^

When it comes to network management, we must first understand the content and scope of our management. In a small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprise, it includes: client (office PC and production PC), application server, network equipment, firewall, wireless network, access fiber and intranet line, etc., even some small enterprises in order to save costs, the telephone, DVR, printer These are also included in the work of the network management (really sad reminder).

Let's talk about the client first. We often hear some network administrators complain that "a certain department SX often downloads love action movies in the office,""so-and-so often has problems accessing network printers,""a rookie often asks some excel, ps questions..." "Even a certain great god can't send out his mail. In the past, a check found that the destination address was wrong"... Oh,My God! Such questions are really annoying! For client management work, here I want to say from three levels: technical management level, administrative management level, communication level.

First of all, we need to know the root of the matter. Don't tell me that you have worked as an administrator for a company for half a year and you don't even know how many client PCs the company has. Then we need to establish the company's configuration management database, which is often referred to as CMDB. We need to collect all the hardware configuration, computer name, user department, user, IP address, MAC address, operating system, application software, purpose, etc. of all client PCs that are useful for our IT daily maintenance. If your company has hundreds of computers, this is a time-consuming job, but we have to do it because we know ourselves and our enemies so we can win.

in technical management. Windows platform, most of our work is actually domain control for us to complete, such as: account password policy, access rights, installation permissions, system patches, configuration management permissions, mobile device access, system backup plan, Internet behavior management (if your company has hardware equipment, it is not recommended that you use domain to deploy), domain control can be really IT management artifacts ah. Of course, you can also do a little more detail, such as redirection is very important, because there are actually a lot of wonderful things in the real environment, such as most people like to put all the files on the desktop; some old computer 80G disk system disk only allocated 8G; even a network administrator allocated 500G disk system disk 10G space I have seen. We often encounter not enough disk capacity, often C disk is not enough; for example, desktop background, we can use it, properly publicize some computer knowledge, management system is also possible (but some companies do not like this).

Most of the office and production environment client PCs are fixed, so our IP address planning should also be fixed (static), mainly to facilitate the management and maintenance of the network administrator, such as remote assistance, fault location is very convenient Oh, and secondly to speed up the network loading speed of the computer boot. As for the dynamic address or those notebooks, mobile phones and other mobile devices to use it!

When it comes to client management, of course you have to watch out for viruses. Viruses are always the biggest headache for every administrator. Usually, the probability of our network equipment being infected is still very small. As for the server, we generally do not install some unknown applications, visit unreliable websites and access unknown devices. In addition, the user is the administrator himself, and the security awareness is different from ordinary people. Disease enters from the mouth, the client is our network defense gap, ordinary users for virus mail, rogue software, phishing websites and a series of viruses and ** are often hard to prevent. A good antivirus software is definitely worth having.
