The transmission of an optical link must ensure that the receiver and transmitter of the optical fiber are interconnected. We call the matching from the transmitting end of the optical fiber link to the receiving end polarity. Ensuring the accuracy of polarity is the basis of any network data transmission, especially in the high-speed, high-density cabling environment. If the polarity is wrong, then changing the polarity will be very cumbersome and time-consuming. Now let's introduce two kinds of optical fiber jumpers that can change polarity: convertible polarity LC fiber jumper and convertible polarity MPO fiber jumper.

LC fiber jumper with convertible polarity

The convertible polarity LC optical fiber jumper is designed by uniboot, and the cable part adopts the design of double-core single tube and integrated tail sleeve, which is more compact and space-saving than the ordinary LC duplex optical fiber jumper, which is beneficial to the heat dissipation and convenient management of the wiring system.

It sets the two plugs of the optical fiber connector into an interchangeable design to avoid the need for re-wiring caused by the polarity conversion of the conventional LC optical fiber jumper.

Like the standard optical fiber jumper, the convertible polarity LC optical fiber jumper can be divided into single mode and multi-mode. At present, SM, OM3 and OM4 jumpers are widely used in the market.

How to realize polarity conversion of LC Optical Fiber jumper

There are two types of serial duplex connections to complete duplex jumpers, depending on whether the polarity method is Amurb jumper or Amura jumper, which requires polarity reversal in optical fiber cabling.

MPO fiber jumper with convertible polarity

MPO is widely used in data centers as a high-density cabling product, because one MPO multi-core connector can meet the 8-12-24 core, up to 144core. However, in the complex high-density cabling, if the polarity is wrong, it will be more complex. Convertible polarity MPO optical fiber jumper can easily and succinctly change polarity, which is more flexible for optical fiber cabling and reduces the difficulty of wiring.

The commonly used polarity methods specified in the TIA568 standard are called method An and method B. In order to meet the TIA568 standard, MPO fiber jumpers (take 12-core as an example) are also divided into Type An and Type B.

Type A

Type A MPO-MPO jumper, the core arrangement at both ends of the jumper is the same.

The flanges at both ends have one end key facing up and one end key facing down.

Type B

Type B MPO-MPO jumper, the position of the core at both ends of the jumper is opposite, and the position of core 1 at one end is 12 at the other end.

The flanges at both ends have one end key facing up and one end key facing down.

How to realize the polarity of MPO Optical Fiber jumper

First gently push the protective shell back, and then push the Key up into the protective shell

Pull out the bottom key and release the housing

The polarity of MPO is changed to this point.

In addition to the space savings and easier polarity reversal mentioned above, the use of convertible polarity fiber jumpers can also make the design of the network structure more flexible, so when carrying out optical fiber cabling, you can choose more time-saving and cost-saving cabling methods.
