In the last Part, I already talked about how to check the status of NSX Control Cluster, and this section begins with how to combine NSX with vSphere host environment.

If you want to combine the NSX environment with the vSphere host, it means that you need to install some VIBs on the ESXi host. By installing these VIBs, you can call the network part of the host through the NSX environment. Depending on the function, these VIBs include:

VXLAN

Distributed Firewall

Distributed Router and World Agent

What needs to be reminded is that the Push VIBs here needs to do Push for Total Cluster. During the whole Push process, three VIBs will be Push and activated.

One VIB is responsible for L2 VXLAN, one VIB is responsible for Distributed Router, and one is responsible for DistributedFirewall. When you have finished adding these VIBs to the Distributed Switch, the Distributed Switch can be called VMware NSX Virtual Switch

1. VSphere Web Client logs in to vCenter Server, click Home Networking & Security Installation HostPreparation, select Cluster, and then click the Install button shown in figure 01:

PS: the installation here does not require ESXi Host to enter the Maintenance Mode, which means that the VMs on the ESXi Host can continue to run during the installation

2. During the installation process, you can see the installation status reminder in Recent Tasks, as shown in figure 02:

After the installation completes successfully, under Recent Tasks, you can see the Completed prompt shown in figure 03:

3. After the installation is completed, under the Host Preparation page label shown in figure 04, you can see that the hosts are in the Ready state, and you can also Uninstall here. You can see that Firewall is also Enabled status:

4. When the installation is completed successfully, select the host with VIBs installed, and click Manage Networking TCP/IP configuration Custom stacks wlan, as shown in figure 05. There is an additional vxlan that cannot be seen before:

This state means that this host is already associated with NSX, which means that it has the infrastructure of SDC and SDN.
