In order to design, deploy, and configure OpenStack, administrators must understand the logical architecture of OpenStack. As the OpenStack conceptual architecture diagram shows, OpenStack contains separate parts called OpenStack services. All services are authorized and authenticated through Identity services. A single service interacts with other services through a public APIs, except for privileged administrator user commands. Internally, OpenStack services are made up of several processes. All services have at least one API process that listens for API requests, preprocesses them, and passes them to other services. With the exception of Identity services, the actual work of other services is done by different processes. For process communication between services, the AMQP message block is used. These service states are stored in a database. When deploying and configuring your OpenStack cloud, you can choose from different message queuing and database services, such as RabbitMQ, MySQL, MariaDB, and SQLite.
