Liquid Telecom has renamed its South African business to "strategic repositioning".

Changing its name to Liquid Intelligent Technologies will not affect other operations of the group, which has offices in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and many other African countries, as well as the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.

CEO Nic Rudnick (pictured) said in 2018: "as South African companies have transformed into Africa's leading digital service providers, South African mobile telecommunications companies have begun to adjust their operating models."

In the past two years, it "has grown into an industry leader, building the best network in Africa and providing an open access network that enables the entire [South Africa] to use 5G."

He added that after Liquid's African data center company was renamed by South African data center operator Samrand in early 2020.

He added: "Mobile Telecom can reshape South Africa's technology industry and fully realize its market position as the preferred digital service provider for local companies."

Smart Telecom is currently in a period of transition, he said. "the company needs to train talent and improve organizational maturity, which will enable us to operate in the smart technology business, thereby creating direct and sustainable value for our current and future shareholders and exceeding customer expectations. To be more competitive in the industry."

He added: "our structure, skills and capabilities need to be rapidly developed and enhanced to effectively exceed customer expectations."

Liquid Telecom, a subsidiary of Zimbabwe's Econet Global, has 70, 000 kilometres of optical fiber and operates data centres in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Nairobi. The comprehensive potential rack space is 19000 square meters and the power is 78 megawatts.
