In the graphics card core manufacturers, there are only NVIDIA and AMD, and in the graphics card market, NVIDIA occupies the absolute mainstream, and in most people's minds, NVIDIA graphics card driver stability is better than AMD. And judging by recent independent agency tests, it may not be what we think.

NVIDIA or AMD graphics drivers, which is more stable?

After Windows 10 was introduced, the hardware compatibility of the system was further improved, and after installation, the yellow exclamation mark in the Device Manager appeared less and less. However, for solo users, manual driver updates are still inevitable, mainly due to regular game optimizations.

QA Consultants, an independent third-party software quality assurance organization, released a graphics driver quality assessment report on July 11, which showed that the A card driver was more stable, reaching 93%, and the N card was 82%.

There are 12 graphics cards tested, 6 A/N, including consumer game cards Vega 64/RX 580/RX 560, GTX 1080 Ti/1060/1050 and workstation professional cards WX 9100/7100/3100/Quadro P5000/4000/600.

The A-card drivers are Radeon Software Adrenalin 18.5.1 and Radeon Pro Software Enterprise 18.Q2, and the N-card drivers are GeForce 397.64 and Desktop 391.58.

The test method is to test continuously 24 hours a day (6 items for each graphics card, which takes 4 hours/day), and observe the record for 12 days. In the end, AMD's cumulative crashes were 31, N-card drives were 76, and the stability rate for A-card drives was 92.8%, and N-card drives was 82.4%.

QA uses a test environment called CRASH, which is part of Microsoft's lab toolkit and is commonly used by Microsoft as part of the hardware compatibility reference standard.

AMD revealed that the test sub-items include various graphics features under the DX 9/10/11 API, including changes in resolution, color settings, screen rotation, color coverage, sleep and wake-up. Microsoft's guidance for the use of the toolkit is "If the system does not stop responding or encounter error checking within a specified time, the test is considered a pass." "

What do you think of the results of this test? It should be noted that this test was commissioned by AMD QA Consultants in May, and AMD has a lot less graphics cards than NVIDIA, so the test results are for reference only and do not represent complete fairness and accuracy.
