This time ESRI and Oracle really did not live up to expectations, gave me several pits, the following is part of the process introduction and experience summary. Principle: Less resources, faster startup, so try to choose the lower version of the software Installation order: VMware->Oracle->plsql validation->ArcGIS license manager->ArcGIS Desktop->SDE Initial plan: Hardware: I consider that after operating the work notebook, I need to install the corresponding ArcGIS software version according to the project needs, and ArcGIS software is incompatible with the version, even the patch is incompatible, so I decided to use VMware virtual machine, search for the highest version. Operating System: Ease of use and compatibility with ArcGIS desktop software, Windows of course. In order to reduce the trouble, mainly because of unfamiliar, do not use the server version. And after win7 eat memory and inefficiency, I decided to use Windows XP sp3, 32-bit is good. ArcGIS software: I looked at the inventory in my hand, the lowest version and also complete software, is 9.3. Database: Oracle is required first, and based on the lowest version of SDE plug-in I have, I chose the lowest version 10g. plsql: 9 version is good, familiar, easy to use Pit 1, now basically can not find Windows XP soft version of the installation package. Workaround: I found a backup xp virtual machine from my inventory. Pit two, extremely difficult to find oracle 10g, finally found the resources, and downloaded the 32-bit server version. Pit 3. When installing ArcGIS license manager, I found that the license is valid for 2017. Delete the virtual system and start again!!! After passing the resources in my hand, I decided to install 10.1 Chinese version and change the operating system to xp 64 bit. There is no 64-bit XP on the Internet. Fortunately, I finally accidentally found out from my inventory that I actually have this installation package! When installing SDE, it was discovered that version 10.1 of SDE only supported 64-bit Oracle. Unload oracle 10g 32 bit!!! This time, it went smoothly. There was no accident. 64-bit oralce 10g was also downloaded successfully. At this time, I have to try to find out if plsql that supports 64 oralce has been released. Fortunately, version 12 is available and can be used. This is not a pit. Pit six, it is easy to install all the software, when using ArcGIS Desktop Catalog function directly oralce, unexpectedly found that it is mandatory to install oralce client! This request is too rude, the server can also access the good! 7, really can't find oralce 10g client installation package ah! Actually, I originally had a full set of this version, but later, I felt that it took up space, and I would not use it in the future, so I deleted it. Final configuration: Hardware: VMware 15 pro virtual machine Operating system: Windows XP 64 bit ArcGIS Software: 10.1 Database: Oracle 11g-- Oracle11g_R2_win64 database & Oracle11g_R2_win32 client plsql：12 It took me a few days to install all of them, but sde has not been successfully connected yet.
