2019 is the year for foldable phones as several smartphone makers announce or make fun of such products. Only three foldable devices have been released this year, including Samsung Galaxy Fold, Huawei Mate X and Motorola Razr. But the durability of the Galaxy Fold undermined the product release, and Huawei delayed MateX. At the same time, Motorola has just launched a foldable phone, so there is virtually no delay. Of the three phones, the Mate X is a better-looking version with an external collapsible screen that can be folded almost like a tablet. Now we have confirmed that the Mate X will be upgraded in early 2020, and the phone may soon be launched in other markets.

According to sources, Yu Huawei Chengdong made a speech to the French media at a press conference. PerFrAndroid said Yu Hongmin confirmed that the P40 series would be launched in Paris in March next year.

The next generation of Mate X, known in some rumors as Mate Xs, will have better hinges, more durable screens and faster Kirin 990 chips, the executive said. The phone should be unveiled on MWC 2020. Yu also said Huawei plans to launch foldable phones in Europe in the first quarter of 2020, but did not specify the actual launch date. In addition, it is not clear whether Mate X will be listed in the region in 2019 or 2020. Details were not disclosed, but the Mate X is by far the most expensive collapsible phone, retailing for about $2500.

Yu also said Huawei plans to make more foldable phones in the future, and hinted that future devices may be lighter than current models.

Samsung is expected to launch at least one foldable phone next year because the flip device has been leaked. It is said that the phone costs less than $1000 and looks like the Galaxy S11 when launched.
