­Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 and CentOS Linux 6 series have recently received kernel security updates to fix recently exposed vulnerabilities. After RHEL 7 and CentOS 7 series have fixed Spectre Variant 4 (CVE-2018-3639) security vulnerabilities and Lazy FPU State Save/Restore CPU vulnerabilities, now it's finally RHEL 6 and CentOS 6. Users can install these patches on the computers they use.

­as previously expected, this round of security updates focuses on fixing Spectre Variant 4, the current industry-level CPU vulnerability that covers a wide range of CPU series and allows attackers to read memory information through targeted caching side-channel attacks. Patches for Intel x86 and AMD CPU have been released.

­in addition, the Lazy FPU State Save/Restore CPU vulnerability (CVE-2018-3665) has been fixed in this round of kernel security updates, which can lead to the disclosure of FPU status information. In addition, the new kernel update addresses a vulnerability in the mm/mempolicy.c:do_get_mempolicy function (CVE-2018-10675), which can launch a local denial of service attack.
