Brief introduction

RDS, short for Remote Desktop Service, remote Desktop Services accelerates and extends desktop and application deployment to any device, helping to protect critical intellectual property while improving staff productivity and simplifying compliance. Remote Desktop services enable virtual machine infrastructure (VDI), session-based desktops, and applications, allowing users to work wherever they want. How do we deploy RDS, based on virtual machine desktops, below?

RDS has six role services: remote Desktop Web access: RD Web Access

Remote Desktop Web access (RD Web access) allows users to access RemoteApp and desktop connections through the start menu on the computer running Windows or through a web browser. RemoteApp and Desktop connections provide custom views of RemoteApp programs and session-based computers in the session collection, as well as custom views of RemoteApp programs and virtual machines in the virtual machine collection. Remote Desktop Gateway: RD Gateway

The remote Desktop Gateway (RD Gateway) allows authorized users to connect to virtual machines, RemoteApp programs, and session-based computers in the enterprise's internal network from any device connected to Internet. Remote Desktop Licensing: RD Licensing

Remote Desktop Licensing (RD Licensing) manages the licenses required to connect to a remote Desktop session host server or virtual machine. You can use RD licenses to install, issue, and track the availability of licenses. Remote Desktop connection Agent: RD Connection Broker

Remote Desktop connection Agent (RD connection Agent):

Allows users to reconnect to their existing virtual machines, RemoteApp programs, and session-based computers.

Allows you to distribute the load evenly among the RD session host servers in the session set or among the shared virtual machines in the shared virtual machine set.

Provides access to virtual machines in the virtual machine collection. Remote Desktop Virtualization Host: RD Virtualization Host

Remote Desktop Virtualization hosts (RD Virtualization hosts) integrate with Hyper-V to deploy virtual machine collection pools or personal virtual machine collections within the organization. Remote Desktop session Host: RD Session Host

The remote desktop session host (RD session host) allows the server to host RemoteApp programs or session-based computers. Users can connect to the RD session host servers in the session collection to run programs, save files, and use resources on those servers. In Server Manager-Dashboard, click add roles and Features

Run the add roles and Features Wizard and click next

Select "remote Desktop Service installation" for the installation type, and click "next"

Select "Standard deployment" for the deployment type, and click "next"

Select "Virtual Machine-based Desktop deployment" for the deployment plan, and click "next"

Role service, click "next"

Select "RDCB1.contoso.com" for the RD connection agent, click the right arrow, and then click "next"

RD Web access Select "RDWA1.contoso.com", click the right arrow, and then click "next"

Select "RDVH1.contoso.com" for the RD virtualized host, click the right arrow, and then click "next"

Confirm the configuration, check "automatically restart the target server if needed", and click "deploy"
