The disk array that needs data recovery is in a university. First of all, let's briefly introduce the details of the equipment that failed: the device that needs data recovery is a set of raid6 composed of six hard drives (capacity 750g). Now there are three hard drives offline and the raid crashes. The server is a web server, and the main MySQL database and a large number of other files are lost, so there is an urgent need for raid data recovery.

Because the raid data recovery work was carried out by another company before we took over the customer equipment, but the data was not fully recovered, the database was seriously damaged, and the data recovery failed. So the first thing we do after receiving these six disks is to back up the six disks of this group of raid to our own secure storage pool to avoid contact with the user's original storage and ensure the originality of the data.

The user's RAID6 uses double parity, the first check is generated by the ordinary XOR operation, and the second check is generated by the Reed-Solomon algorithm, which is quite complex. Through the analysis of the offline disks, we found that two of the hard disks were offline very early and there was no writing of the latest data. In order to recover all the data completely, the second check must be used, otherwise it will inevitably lead to the loss or corruption of the latest data. The last data recovery company failed because there is no public data recovery software on the market to solve this problem, and some of the software is not really enabled although it is set up.

Through the above analysis, we are determined to use one of our own raid6 data recovery software for recovery, first simply analyze some raid original parameters, and then use the software to restore to generate a complete image. The results generated by the software will be returned to the storage set up by the user's new disk for verification, everything is normal, the raid6 data recovery work has been completed successfully, and it takes 2 working days.
