1. View tape information and capacity

2. ROOTVG backup:

# smit mksysb

Note: use this command to back up only rootvg, only mounted file systems, create bootable tapes in backup format, save the paging space device definition in rootvg, save logical volume policies, and minimize active users and applications during backup operations.

Note: select the first Backup DEVICE or FILE, set the media / dev/rmt3 for backup, and press enter to continue.

Other parameters in Smit mksysb:

Creation map file: whether to generate an image file from logical partition to physical partition for each logical volume to be backed up in the volume group. This mapping file can keep the logical volume policy and the mapping relationship between logical partition to physical partition the same during recovery. It is recommended to create

Exclude files: if you select yes, the files and directories listed in the file / etc/exclude.rootvg file will not be backed up

List files as they are backed up: whether to list files when backing up. Generally, the default value is-no.

Verify readability if tape device: whether to verify the readability of the tape device. Generally, no is optional.

Generate new p_w_picpath.data file: whether to generate a new image data file, usually yes.

Expand / tmp if needed: whether to automatically extend the / tmp file system when needed, yes is strongly recommended

Disable software packing of backup: whether to disable backup software packaging. No is recommended.

Backup extended attributes: whether to back up extended attributes. Yes is recommended.

Number of blocks to write in a single output: select the amount of data to be written out each time. Default is 512 byte blocks.

View the contents of the tape after backup:

# smitty lsmksysb

Removal of magnetic tape

# tctl-f / dev/rmt3 offline use this command to eject the tape automatically

Or press the exit key on the tape drive to eject the tape.

III. Recovery of ROOTVG

1) Press the 1 or F1 key when the host starts to enter the SMS menu of the machine

2) enter boot option- > boot device selection, select Boot from tape, and then select the corresponding tape device from various interface options

3) after waiting for the tape boot system to complete, when "Welcome to Base Operating System Installation and Maintanence" appears, select the 3 "Start Maintenance Mode for system recovery" option to restore the system, and then

Continue to select 4 "Install from a System Backup"

4) when the "Choose mksysb Device" screen appears, select "/ dev/rmt3" and insert the tape and enter. At this point, the system will automatically restore the operating system.
