Application scenario

There are dozens of people in the department who need to add printers, and in addition to adding them manually, we can also deploy them in batches through group policy to improve productivity.

Setup proc

Create OU by department in AD-> move all domain users belonging to the department to OU-> create a policy in Group Policy Manager and apply it to OU-> Associate printers with Group Policy in print Service Manager-> users who belong to OU can see printers deployed through Group Policy after logging in.

Operation steps

1. Create a domain account such as IT in Active Directory Users and Computers and move it to this OU:

two。 Create a new group policy to deploy the printer in the Group Policy Manager.

2.1 Open Server Manager-Tools-Group Policy Management:

2.2 find the OU of IT in Group Policy Manager, and then right-click to select Create a GPO in this Domain, and link it here...

Enter the group policy name PrinterGPO-OK to complete the creation:

3. Associate a group policy with a printer:

Switch to Printer Management-Printer Servers, select the printer to be deployed, right-click, and select Deploy with Group Policy...:

Click Browse... in the pop-up dialog box -All, find the group policy PrinterGPO-OK that we created:

To select the type of object to apply to the group policy, we choose The users that this GPO applies to (per user)-Add:

Per user: this user can see and use the deployed printer after logging in on any computer in the domain, so that the printer can follow others, and the login will take effect again.

Per machine: no matter who logs in, you can see and use the deployed printer. You need to restart the computer to take effect.

You can see that the group policy is associated with the printer based on per user mode. Click OK to complete the association:

4. Verify the effectiveness of Group Policy deployment.

Log in to the Win7 client using the Lander Zhang domain account:

Click start-Devices and Printers to view the print deployment status:

You can see that HP's printer has been successfully deployed by Group Policy:
