2 Windows HPC basic topology in Azure

Our Windows HPC Server architecture consists of a HEAD node and some compute nodes running in Azure (the topology is shown in figure 1):

The HEAD node is the master node in the HPC cluster and runs in the Azure IaaS virtual machine (VM). It controls and manages all available resources in the HPC system.

All HPC compute nodes run on Azure (PaaS).

During the deployment of a HPC compute node in Azure, two or more compute agents are automatically created to control network communication between the HEAD node and the compute node.

In Windows HPC Server, cluster authorization and authentication are based on Active Directory domain controllers. To maintain stability and security in a production environment, it is recommended that you deploy on a different dedicated Azure IaaS VM than HPC HEAD nodes and domain controllers. To save some resources, the test environment domain controller is installed on the Head node of the HPC cluster The Windows domain is deployed on the Azure platform and does not communicate with the local domain. If you need to integrate the user's credentials with the local credentials, you need to link the Azure site and the existing AD DC local interconnect through the virtual network. We plan the Azure virtual network in the HPC HEAD node in IaaS VM, subnet 10.1.1.0 to 24, and the actual implementation configuration can be configured according to our planning requirements.
