II. Definition of zigbee

ZigBee is a low-power LAN protocol based on IEEE802.15.4 standard. According to international standards, ZigBee technology is a short-distance, low-power wireless communication technology. The name (also known as the Purple Bee Protocol) comes from the eight-character dance of honeybees, because honeybees (bee) transmit information about the location of pollen to their companions by flying and "zig" shaking their wings, which means that bees rely on this way to form a communication network in the group. It is characterized by close range, low complexity, self-organization, low power consumption and low data rate. Mainly suitable for automatic control and remote control field, can be embedded in a variety of devices. In short, ZigBee is a cheap, low-power short-range wireless networking communication technology. ZigBee is a wireless network protocol with low speed and short distance transmission. ZigBee protocol consists of physical layer (PHY), Media access Control layer (MAC), Transport layer (TL), Network layer (NWK), Application layer (APL) and so on. The physical layer and media access control layer follow the IEEE 802.15.4 standard.

III. Zigbee characteristics

The following is a detailed description of the features of zigbee

(1) low power consumption: two No. 5 batteries support a service life of up to 6 months to 2 years.

(2) low cost: because it simplifies the protocol stack and reduces the performance requirements of the kernel, taking CC2530 as an example, the kernel is an enhanced 8051 kernel, thus reducing the chip cost. Each CC2530 is about 15 RMB.

(3) low rate: Zigbee can provide three kinds of raw data throughput: 250kbps (2.4GHz), 40kbps (915MHz) and 20kbps (868MHz).

(4) short distance: "near" is relative. Compared with Bluetooth, Zigbee belongs to low-speed long-distance data transmission.

(5) reliable: collision avoidance mechanism is adopted, and special time slots are reserved for communication services that need fixed bandwidth, so as to avoid competition and conflict when sending data; there is the function of automatic dynamic networking between node modules, and information is transmitted through automatic routing in the whole Zigbee network, thus ensuring the reliability of information transmission.

(6) short delay: optimized for delay-sensitive applications, the communication delay and activation delay from sleep state are very short.

(7) large network capacity: Zigbee can adopt star, mesh and mesh network structure, as shown in figure 1.1.2, several child nodes are managed by one master node, and at most one master node can manage 254child nodes; at the same time, the master node can also be managed by the upper network node, which can form a large network of up to 65000 nodes.

(8) Security: Zigbee provides data integrity check and authentication functions, and the encryption algorithm uses the general AES-128.

(9) High confidentiality: 64-bit factory number and support for AES-128 encryption.

IV. Zigbee application

Sensor networks based on Zigbee technology are widely used, which can help people to better realize their life dreams. The application of Zigbee technology in digital home can make people know the status of electronic equipment at home at any time, and can be used to monitor patients at home and observe whether the patient's condition is normal or not in order to respond. Zigbee sensor network used in building automation can reduce operating costs.
