At this point, we have successfully installed two SQL Server 2016 servers and configured them with a failover cluster.

Let's configure the Always On mode

First, find the SQL Server 2016 configuration manager in the application of the two SQL Server 2016 servers and open it

Select the SQL service, and in the property configuration, check the enable always on high availability group check box

After that, find a SQL Server that you plan to plan for the Primary database server in the future, and then open its SQL instance

Select the Always On high availability group and click the New High availability Group wizard

Enter the high availability group (AG) name

When selecting the database, we found that the database is gray and cannot be checked.

Through the system prompt, we know that the database that requires to join AG (according to the choice of demand, I have built two test databases db01 and db02 here in advance), we must first make a full backup.

Right click on the database that needs to be backed up at this time, and click backup in the task option.

Backup file name and path and so on, you can choose your own, the purpose is to backup once.

At this time, the two databases have met the requirements and can be checked.

At this point, we need to enter two replicated database servers as the instance carriers that host these databases.

As shown in the figure below, you can actually set which database is the preferred database and which is the alternative database at this time.
