According to data from some research institutions, the chip shortage is expected to lead to a reduction of 10.2721 million vehicles worldwide this year, and 11.3094 million vehicles are expected to be reduced for the whole year.

Specifically, among the estimated data of research institutions, the region with the largest car production reduction is North America. The data show that production has been reduced by 3.1784 million vehicles so far, and it is expected that production will be reduced by 3.412 million vehicles for the whole year. In addition, Europe, which has a large number of automobile manufacturers, has also reduced production seriously. It is estimated that production has been reduced by 2.9541 million vehicles, and production is expected to be reduced by 3.3493 million vehicles for the whole year.

Looking back this year, since the beginning of the year, the shortage of automotive chips has affected a number of automakers, including GM, Ford, Hyundai, Toyota and other major automakers have been affected to varying degrees. Among them, Toyota announced in August that 27 of the 28 production lines in 14 factories would stop production to varying degrees in August and September because of chip shortages.

It should be noted that the chip shortage will not be alleviated immediately, and the situation will continue for some time. CEO of several car companies expects chip shortages to last until 2022, which means automakers will still stop production because of chip shortages in 2022.
