Orca Security Co., Ltd. said today that it has received a $20 million A-Series to promote its innovative network security approach.

The company claims that it can find sensitive data such as vulnerabilities, malware, misconfigurations, weak passwords, horizontal mobility risks, keys and personally identifiable information in the cloud without using software proxies.

Orca's technology, called side scan, is delivered as a managed service and can be installed in a few minutes. It provides full-stack visibility to an organization's cloud infrastructure by reading runtime block storage for out-of-band virtualized workloads and by cross-referencing images of comparative information extracted from each cloud provider's application interface. Orca says the technology can map customers' entire industry to those from Amazon Web Services (Amazon Web Services Inc.) and Microsoft Corp. And Google LLC (Google LLC) on the cloud infrastructure to generate priority alerts based on environmental background.
