Security group is a kind of virtual firewall with stateful packet filtering feature, which is used to set network access control for single or multiple CVMs. It is an important network security isolation means provided by Tencent Cloud.

A security group is a logical grouping, which can add basic network CVM or ENI instances with the same network security isolation requirements in the same region to the same security group. The inbound and outbound traffic of an instance can be securely filtered through the security group policy. The instance can be a basic network CVM or an ENI instance. The rules of the security group can be modified at any time, and the new rules take effect immediately.

Security groups support user-defined creation and template creation. Tencent Cloud servers currently provide three types of templates:

1.Linux opens port 22: only the TCP port 22 logged in by SSH is exposed to the public network, and the private network ports are all open.

2.Windows opens port 3389: only the TCP port 3389 logged in by MSTSC is exposed to the public network, and the private network ports are all open.

3. Open all ports: expose all ports to public network and private network, there is a certain security risk.
