We know that only partial online ddl is supported by mysql5.6, but the following three ways of writing ddl do not need to copy tables:

Field comment

Alter table testtable change testcolumn testcolumn int (11) unsigned NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT COMMENT 'comments on modified fields'

Table comments

Alter table testtable comment 'comments on modified tables'

Modify the default value

Alter table testtable alter column testcolumn set default 0
