I. the concept of search area

To configure the DNS service, first create a DNS lookup zone. Therefore, the search area refers to the domain name space that the DNS server is responsible for resolving. For example, if Baidu registers the domain name of baidu.com, it is necessary to create a search zone named baidu.com on Baidu's DNS server. The lookup zone can be divided into forward and reverse. The lookup zone is responsible for resolving the domain name to IP, while the reverse lookup zone is responsible for resolving IP to domain name. The forward lookup zone is usually used. Because the coolpen.net. Net domain has been created previously, the coolpen.net forward lookup zone is also automatically created in the DNS server, as shown in the figure:

There are three different types of zones in DNS forward lookup area or reverse lookup area: main zone. Auxiliary area and stub area.

To understand the zone type, you must first understand the difference between the primary server and the secondary server in the DNS server. In order to ensure the reliability of the service, you can have two DNS servers in the enterprise network: one is the primary server and the other is the secondary server. In general, the primary server is responsible for the resolution request, the data of the secondary server is copied from the primary server, and the data of the secondary server is read-only and cannot be modified. When the primary server fails or is unable to respond to the client's resolution request due to heavy load, the secondary server will take on the task of domain name resolution. Now let's explain what is the primary zone, the zone used by the primary server is the primary zone, and again, the zone used by the secondary server is the secondary zone. The stub area can be regarded as a special and simplified auxiliary area. When you create a lookup zone, you must create the primary zone first, because both the secondary zone and the stub zone need to copy data from the primary zone.

Second, create a forward lookup area

You can add multiple forward lookup zones to a DNS server and provide resolution services for multiple domain names at the same time. Create a forward main zone named ytvc.com.cn as follows:

1. Create a forward lookup zone on the DNS server. Right-click "forward find Zone" and select "New Zone" from the pop-up shortcut menu, as shown in the following figure.

The wizard asks if dynamic zone updates are allowed, that is, whether the corresponding records in the DNS server change automatically when the computer's IP address changes. Generally speaking, dynamic updates are allowed if the DNS area is used in the corporate intranet; if used in Internet, dynamic updates are generally not required. Set here to "do not allow dynamic updates", as shown below:

After the zone is created, as shown in the figure above, there is only one NS record and one SOA record by default in the zone. The NS (name server) record indicates which DNS servers are in the current zone, while the SOA (initial authorization authority) record indicates which of them is the primary DNS server.
