Introduction to openfiler Free Edition

1: suitable for small environment, simple environment, such as (standard database, dual computers, etc.)

2: if there is a need for virtualization, it is recommended to choose the free version of the commercial version and not to use it in a virtualized environment.

3: there is no problem with the free version for storage and backup, but it is not recommended to run on the virtual machine. This system has some problems with vmvear's ESXI compatibility. Openfiler officially issued a non-free version to solve the compatibility problems with ESXI.

4: based on your own linux system, not based on a general-purpose system, the free engine is IET, and the commercial engine is SCST (that is, multiple engines are supported)

5: the free version does not support clustering (you can configure pacemaker, etc.)

6: two kinds of block devices (physical block devices and virtual block devices) are supported.

Installation of openfiler

Download the openfiler image file

The installation process is relatively simple, do not elaborate, need to pay attention (if there are multiple disks during installation, do not all check, only the one that needs to install the system)

After installation, the account password openfiler,password (English only is supported)

Web and command line interface cannot create snapshots by default

Loading these two modules into the system can solve the problem.

Managing storage in a graphical web interface

Create pv

Click: Volumes > > "create new physical volumes" > > Select the disk on which you want to create the pv. Here is / dev/sdb

Create vg

Click: Volumes > > "Volume Groups" > > enter the vg name and the pv disk to be applied

Create lv

Enable the Target service

Add IQN

Create block and map out

FC Target experiment
