Limes Audio also announced the deal in a post on its website, saying it planned to "continue to strive to make all voice conversations equally loud and clear, regardless of distance or environment". The terms of the deal with Google have not been disclosed.

This is not the first time Google has acquired a start-up from Sweden. A few years ago, the tech giant acquired Marratech, a Swedish telecom company. Google hopes to improve Google Talk and chat through this acquisition.

At the time, ring chat was one of the main video chat apps on Android phones, but it was replaced by Duo in the core GMS app suite.
