The last three items in the drop-down list can use volume as the boot disk vda of instance, which are:

Boot from volume

Directly from the existing bootable volume launch

Boot from image (create a new volume)

Create a new volume, copy the data from image to volume, and then volume launch from that

Boot from volume snapshot (create a new volume)

Create a volume with the specified volume snapshot, and then volume launch from that volume launch, provided, of course, that the source volume corresponding to that snapshot is bootable.

Let's take Boot from image (create a new volume) as an example to see how to boot from volume.

Select cirros as image,instance and name it "c3". If you want to delete volume when you want to terminate instant, you can check "Delete on Terminate"

After c3 succeeds in Launch, a new bootable volume, named after volume ID, can be seen in the volume list and has been attach to c3.

The volume has been configured as the boot disk vda of c3.

If you create a snapshot with this volume, you can then deploy the new instance through Boot from volume snapshot (create a new volume), which is for everyone to practice.

Here is another exercise for you: the instance of boot from volume can also execute live miagrate. Please think about how volume is migrate to the target node and verified by log.
